How Are You Doing?

We discuss so many topics on RF you begin to understand how many of the members think.
Something that doesn't come up much is what's happening in our lives.
Is your life rich and fulfilling?
Do current events make you afraid?
Is there something you could do different to help yourself and others?
Do you have goals for yourself?
In your mind are they noble?

Some times there seem to be more question than answers.
I will come back and talk about some of the things going on in my life later. Duty calls.

My life is odd. On one hand I have a perfect life, set up just the way I intended with everything I could ever want and nothing worth complaining about. But I'm also haunted by the feeling that it's not supposed to be this way, that I'm supposed to be living a different life. Nevertheless, my goal at the moment is to sustain this life I live as long as possible. Don't know about its nobility --I guess that's for others to determine. Current events don't phase me, because the life I set up has no newspapers. Television is solely for entertainment, radio for music, and Internet for forums and e-mail with friends.

Is your life rich and fulfilling? It can be at times. We are not rich in monetary means, but we have some great kids and live in a nice warm climate.
Do current events make you afraid?Very much so, but I have no say in the matter.
Is there something you could do different to help yourself and others? There is always something I could do differently.
Do you have goals for yourself? I have just finished school (I was in my mid-30s when I went back)and am currently looking for work in the area I studied (accounting)
In your mind are they noble? What I am doing is my duty. Nothing that someone does that is duty is not really noble.

What a great post. I'll return to it in a bit, but, first, I want to applaud it ...

I love the arts, I love theatre, drama, and acting. But lately, I feel like I'm constantly acting. I never stop. I feel like no one knows who the real me is. It's like I'm hiding behind this mask of perfection or something. Perfect family, perfect friends, perfect boyfriend, perfect church, perfect grades, perfect extracurricular activities, perfect, perfect PERFECT. People see me as a perfectly happy all-american type girl. And I'm really not that happy sometimes. But I can't tell people I know this, because if I do, it'll ruin that perfect disguise.

Despite that, I have some goals for me. I want to graduate college, and be a journalist or something. Something exciting. I want to travel the world. I want to contribute somehow to the animal rights cause, you know, save the homeless kitty cats. :) I have too many goals to list, really. Are they really noble goals? Probably not. Except for that one about the homeless animals, most of my goals are things that will help me get ahead.

Is your life rich and fulfilling?
Often -- certainly often enough to warrant gratitude.

Do current events make you afraid?
Yes.

Is there something you could do different to help yourself and others?
Yes, and I've been relatively successful integrating these things into a lifestyle.

In your mind are they noble?
Yes.

In your mind are they noble?
They are worthy.

yes, i agree! what a beautiful thread, Love, thank you.

my life *is* fulfilling. i have dear friends, i am safe, i have iman, i have ways to stay in touch with people i love. i do wish some things were different, but one has to wait for opportunities to come.

current events make be sad and distressed... i have a dear friend from Burma who is grieving heavily for his country. i have friends in Iraq and Nigeria living in war, and i wish that i could do more for them, and with them. we do what we can do, God willing.

my goals... i don't know. i would like to live in a city and work with children. perhaps see more of the world, travel some. i would like to work on being more generous and less fearful.

Is your life rich and fulfilling?

I take for granted how blessed I am. I have two beautiful little girls and a kind husband. We are all healthy. There's much to be thankful for.

Most importantly, Christ Has me in His loving hand and I need to stop taking THIS for granted as well.

Do current events make you afraid?

Not really. And the fact that we don't have TV helps quite a bit. I don't pay much attention to the news these days.

Is there something you could do different to help yourself and others?

I love my line of work very much. I enjoy working with others and helping others. I feel helpless at times because I don't have the financial resources to make the type of differences that I'd like to. I try to compensate with my time and love but sometimes it seems insufficient.

Do you have goals for yourself?

They change often but yes, I have goals.

In your mind are they noble?

I'm not.

Is your life rich and fulfilling?

At the moment, no, not really. I'm actually going through a very difficult time in my life right now. But God is teaching me to be content in whatever state I'm in....so no matter how rough things are, I know I've always got something to be thankful for. :)

Do current events make you afraid?

"There is no fear in love."

We live in a scary world, but my God is bigger than that scary world, and He loves me and protects me.

Is there something you could do different to help yourself and others?

Be more optimistic, less judgmental.

Do you have goals for yourself?

Yes. Absolutely. First: get my health back to normal. I'm sick of being sick. Second: get a job. Third: pay off my debts. Fourth: move down to Brazil and work with the street children for the rest of my life.

In your mind are they noble?

They are both practical and noble.

Within the last two months I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.I have to change a lot of my habits.
I have never been blessed (or cursed as the case may be) with money but my needs have been met.
There is abundant love in my life. I have two wonderful children and three beautiful grandsons. I know God loves me.
If I lived one, two, or three hundred years ago current events would have been scary. But God walks with me.
I try to help who I can in my own small way and I wish I could do more.
My goals seem to be mostly short term. I can't change the past nor control the future. I believe we live in the now or life will pass us by far to quickly. What we do now will effect tomorrow's now.
I wish I could do more to share God's love with others.
I don't think it is noble. I believe God requires us to love one another.

Is your life rich and fulfilling?
Yes.
Do current events make you afraid?
I'm sufficiently pleased with the 64 years of life that I've had. Current events around me are acceptable. I won't travel to any country where the US is significantly present, so I'm not too afraid of journeying either.
Is there something you could do different to help yourself and others?
For myself - I'm alright. For others - I'm on the lookout. Right now, I'm sponsoring a girl 40% my age who has at least all qualities I would have wished for a daughter, had I had one. I think I am a sufficiently good uncle to an assortment of nieces and nephews, and fight to outdo my sisters in caring for mother (91 next week!). I'm digging into the usefulness of supporting UNICEF schooling for girls projects in Nepal, but am not too impressed by their leaflets. I's not impossible that I donate a major portion of my humble assets to some south Asian micro-credit project.
Do you have goals for yourself?
Trrying to be a nice person, keeping friendly and helpful relations to most former GF's, learning as many languages as time allows.
In your mind are they noble?
Define 'noble'.

ETA: love, I almost forgot:

I do hope that you have access to good diabetes care and counseling. See to that you get a good blood glucose monitor, and learn how to interpret your values. Frequently see an ophthalmologist who knows how to interpret your eye fundus. Study the concept of renal threshold and monitor your urine glucose in that pespective. Another keyword to watch is microalbuminuria. Take good care of your feet. Diabetes friendly food can easily be at least as tasty, varied and interesting as the average diet.

love,

Anders

Is your life rich and fulfilling?
Not as much as I would wish it to be. As I am a husband, and a father, I cannot "follow my heart". If I was able to do so, I would be working in Africa as a volunteer of sorts, doing whatever I could to help whomsoever I could help.
Do current events make you afraid?
Not as long as they are not accompanied by loud bangs..........:p
Is there something you could do different to help yourself and others?
Yes, go back in time, change the circumstances of my childhood (to help myself)
Be creditable as a wise person to strangers...maybe a list of qualifications after my name to reflect all I have learned in life, and what I have to offer those who need help of various kinds.
Do you have goals for yourself?
To try and rise above the puny level of being a human sinner.
In your mind are they noble?
I don't know about "Noble" I would say that they are required of us all (as long as that is what we want to wish for)
