We all know that God is self sufficient, He doesn't need anything.
Despite that, all religious denomination keeps on saying we must serve Him.
How you or your denomination do that?
Thanks

By serving others. In my religion it is taught that God is present within the hearts of all living entities. By serving each other, we are serving God.

By paying attention to the world S/He makes (the present), rather than to the ones we make (the past and future).

That's also what the Baha'i Scriptures teach.

"That one indeed is a man who, today, dedicateth himself to the service of the entire human race. The Great Being saith: Blessed and happy is he that ariseth to promote the best interests of the peoples and kindreds of the earth. In another passage He hath proclaimed: It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens." Baha'u'llah

In Islam, believers serve God in many ways, including the following:

1- Helping other believers on God's Path

2- Conveying God's Guidance to those who want to understand it

3- Taking care of one's family, especialy parents, wife/husband, children

4- Having a positive active role in society, taking care of neighbors, the needy, orphans, ... etc

5- Contributing to establishing justice in society in all its forms (social justice through charity and volunteer work, economic & political justice)

6- Making this world a better place through work for raising living standards, advancing science & technology, protecting the environment, ... etc

7- Contributing to spreading peace and justice in the world among people

Judaism teaches us that Jews serve God by keeping true to the Covenant, and obeying the commandments that are in the Torah.

We say that non-Jews have their own teachings and traditions about how to serve God, but we expect more or less that somewhere in there needs to be creating a just society.

We usually understand that in general, the service that God wants most is for people to treat each other well, not to oppress one another, and to help the helpless. Over and above that, we say that God appreciates praise and thanks for being who He is, and wishes us to be free to pour out our hearts to Him for comfort and sympathy.

Just pick out some "holy" book and pick out what you think serving God is. Like killing the infidel people or sending the Sinner to Hell, or jumping in front of a bullet or truck barreling down on someone (rarely happens outside the movies). Each God gets away with doing nothing while you serve and do it's dirty or clean work..
