How can Iran be the biggest state sponsor of terrorism?

This is something conservatives say out of pure stupidity. Iran is Shia and most terrorism comes from Sunni groups. I have never even heard of a Shi'ite terror attack in Europe or the Americas. Conservatives are just hung up about having Israel exist and can't see past it.

Me personally, I don't see how they can be one. In that case, who is Russia since they supply Iran with weapons? The only reason 'they' think so, its because Iran is supporting Yemen.

This is just a made up story by Israel and Republicans in the US. They keep repeating it hoping it will stick.

There are some big and powerful Shi'a terrorist groups, but their targets are primarily in Sunni-majority areas of the Muslim-majority world.

Yo, Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia-based individuals are a massive contributor to global terrorism, directly and indirectly!

Oh, Valjean, didn't see you there.

Yes put the weapons there, and the ones who take up the weapons are the terrorist, we then know who to get rid of.

Iran does not cover it's "paper trail" as well as other nations so it is easy to make this claim due to exposure of evidence. It also helps when you are the one defining what terrorism is and isn't.

Basically, it's because the USA is in major, excruciating, denial about our foreign policy. Especially in regards to Iran.

We have been assaulting the sovereignty of the Iranians since the early 50s. From deposing their elected government, to supporting our puppet Pahlavi with SAVVAK, to launching a war that cost at least a million lives, to imposing sanctions when they try to defend themselves, the list is nearly endless.

But as long as Americans refuse to see why Iranians do what they are doing they will continue to believe lies like "Iran is the top supporter of terrorism."

Is that literally it? I was being a bit sardonic for the fun of it but I am shocked that a Shi'ite would bother with any of these attacks.
Iran has an arguably justified chip on its shoulder regarding the USA. I assume many people on both sides well remember the Embassy hostage crisis.

It is not absurd to be wary of what might be promoted by such a regime. But of course, it should not be presumed without evidence, either.

This is what I have been thinking the whole time. US backs Pahlavi, Iranians hate Pahlavi, we try to keep him in while Iranians try to get him out. Simply put I do not think there is a lot of trust between either groups and a lot has to do with or habitual anti-democratic attitude in the region yet professing democracy as a must for any government. I am curious as to how much Iranian youth trust us

It's a threat to Israel, who owns the United States
It is a threat to Israel, but I don't think that's why.
It's because Israel is the top USA proxy in the middle east. Iraq isn't in the running any more, since we failed to replace Hussein with a more suitable tyrant.
