How do we know when someone is looking at us?

We were out for dinner the other day. I was sitting at the table with our family eating and chatting away when for no apparent reason I turned around through 180 degrees and looked straight into the eyes of a man working in the kitchen about twenty feet away. How did I know he was looking at me?

Seems to the the opposite. Half the time I'll be looking at someone, thinking, "I wonder if those glasses would suit me..." or, "Damn she's fine!" and they'll suddenly turn and look at me. It's never the other way round... probably because I look at the ground as I walk so I'm sure not to step in/on anything.

Being the paranoid idiot that I often am, I thought, "No! Maybe they can read my mind!"

I'm not really sure what it is, maybe Dallas is right it's like ESP. It seems that you can almost feel the person looking at you.....At the same time have you ever had a relationship with someone where you can look at them across a room and be able to tell what the person is thinking....Like "this is a dull party, let's vacate" I mean they really don't tell you by a facial expression but just looking into their eyes, like the vibes they give you....................

Yes that happens to me too...I can read my husbands mind quite often...

Also what about the phone calls you get from friends you havent talked to in ages..And you had just been wondering about them that day or the day before and thinking of giving them a call.....

Barry Lopez in his book, Of Wolves and Men, mentions that wolves will do something very similar. There's no explanation for it, though.

I don't know. If someone is watching me, I can almost feel the eyes burning into me, even if I can't see the person or don't even know he or she is there. Maybe it is a sixth sense.

I have expereinced the same thing many times. both when looking at someone and when i turn to cathc somebody looking at me. skeptics would say that is coincidence, that there will be many more times when you turn around and you dont see anything, these incidences are not remembered becuase it did not feel odd enough to make an impression. I beleive it to be something more.

I have had expereinces of this nature with phone calls and text messages with my girlfriend. both of us have been thinking of the same things for the same reason an both decide to contact each other at the same time.

because I am a 40 year old with purple hair in suburban NJ.

Also because I am exceedinly sexy.:flirt: Hahahaha!!!

(and that is no coincidence.)

Perhaps he was looking at something past you. Was your attractive wife sitting across the table?

That is true. There are times, though, when I feel like someone is looking at me, only to look up or look back and find someone looking at me. Then again, there are also times when I feel like someone is looking at me, and look up to find no one looking at me...Oh well, who knows?

Question Everything
Strange thing – eyes are such small things – you can look across a crowded room, everything else on the other side of the room is fuzzy and out of focus, but somehow you can see others eyes and what they are looking at.

I guess our spirits are more tuned in on each other than we consciously know.
