ACLJ

Is there anyone here who actually supports the ACLJ? There is not much I know about the ACLU, does anyone have any experience with it?
Does anyone agree with what Jerry Falwell said about the ACLU

"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'"

How is the ACLU helping or hurting the US? How is the ACLJ helping or hurting the US?

Before I was an evangelical n training I would have said the ACLU offers a good system of checks and balances. I didn't always agree with their actions, but I often could see the validity of their argument. My biggest beef with them was that they pick and choose whose civil liberties they were going to fight for.

Now that I am an evangelical n training, I think they are the whore of Satan, doing his bidding on earth to destroy the kingdom of God. I can only hope and pray that they see the light of Jesus.

I'm going out on a limb and assuming nutshell is just being his sarcastic self. :p

I haven't heard of the ACLJ before. I'm hesitant about any organization with "We want to send a strong message to The Honorable President George W. Bush, respectfully requesting him, as Commander-in-Chief, to direct the Secretary of Defense to issue new regulations to protect the constitutional right of military chaplains to pray according to their faith. Your decision to take a stand in this matter will make a difference." on the main page. :D

The ACLU has kept a consistant message of supporting civil rights, even if one disagrees with some of their policies.

I am a member of the ACLU. I don't agree with everything they support, and sometimes I find myself scratching my head in consternation at some of their stances, but, on the whole, I think they're a very valuable and important bulwark against government encroachment on human values and our civil rights.

I'm not familiar with the ACLJ. I'll have to review their literature before drawing an opinion.
