How do you know you a prophet?

Ultimatum

Classical Liberal
How do you know a prophet?

Perhaps someone who makes claims, is admired by many people, and, ultimately, those claims turn out to be true.
^That's the recipe for religion!

If you dream the future, often see what is going to happen before it does... You sort of know. :innocent:

The primary and essential thing is appointment of one to the office of prophet from G-d in no unequivocal terms.
If one has not been appointed by Him and one claims to this high spiritual office then one will not be supported by G-d rather one would be perished by Him.
Mere seeing dreams of future/present/past do not make one a truthful prophet.

[6:94]And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah, or says, ‘It has been revealed to me,’ while nothing has been revealed to him; and who says, ‘I will send down the like of that which Allah has sent down?’ And if thou couldst only see, when the wrongdoers are in the agonies of death, and the angels stretch forth their hands, saying, ‘Yield up your souls. This day shall you be awarded the punishment of disgrace, because of that which you spoke against Allah falsely and because you turned away from His Signs with disdain.’

If there were a god, why would he choose one person and communicate through him? Why not communicate with all humankind simultaneously?
Good Question. im not in Gods position but it seems like it cant get though the pollution of life (focus is important in hearing) to communicate to all. It may be already trying to but alot of people are too distracted to pay attention. So it chooses people favorite thing to pay attention to...a celebrity. Also God or what we refer to as God has limits,The all powerful is folklore. But its power is obviously beyond our comprehension

This is fact. There's way more involved than dreams

This is one the main reasons I think Abrahamic religion is fiction.
I understand that ancient people didn't understand mass communication. So they invented the concept of prophets. One guy claiming to speak for God.

Modern humans are more sophisticated and realise that if God cared about what happens to us, or what we do, He wouldn't be dependent on some human mouthpiece to tell us about it.

"Revealed Religion" is good evidence that Abraham knew less about God than I do. Not because I am smarter or better, just because I have more information than he did.

What are your believes?

What are your believes?

Too many to list.

The earth revolves around the sun.
Humans invent religion.
Broccoli is tasty and nutritious.
The RCC pope is a conservative male human.
Black people can say ****** with impunity and white people can't.
The USA is a mess, but I prefer this mess over any other country I know about.
2+3 always equals 5

If you want to know about my beliefs about the Creator and the afterlife and such, we must first discuss my realisation that my beliefs work for me, but I am sure I'm wrong about them. Or else what I say won't make any sense.

I have faith beliefs. Things I believe because I want to live in a world where they're true. But I also believe that I, as a human, am probably wrong. I don't have enough hubris to believe that I know the unknown.

Thank you for bringing this up,The idiotic sibling rivalry between the Whites and the Blacks is one of my reasons for being.(Im biologically black btw)

Why in a thread where someone claiming to be a prophet and then asks you your believes you felt it was necessary to list this,
and please respond with logic and reasoning since 2+3 always equals 5

Who was claiming to be a prophet? You?
I gave a list of a few of my "beliefs", because you asked me to (sorta). There are lots more where those came from. My question is "why are you asking?". Then I can narrow down the answers a bit.

Yes,did you not read any of the thread. Ive told you why but because you guys (White and blacks) relationship I find the most peculiar due to the extensive of the history and being in america seeing 1st hand as i said being black. i can understand the standpoint of blacks attitudes but never whites and when i ask i never get an answer. so whats your reasoning and why is it a priority to you.

To me someone who repeats god
s word no matter how beautiful is a parrot, but one who expanse on god's word is a prophet.

Like the Borg of Star Trek fame?
and if you had the Almighty Himself at your shoulder for every gesture pending.....
would you have freewill?

I can spot the difference between recital and something ...'more'.
and some scripture forbids that you increase or diminish the written word provided.

I say....anyone who speaks well of God.
Does so from mind and heart.....with belief and conviction.

as for seeing the future.....
I have visions....and things are not looking good.

Maybe I'll get lucky....and my gray hair will do me in before the hardship.

Makes me feel sad for the children.
