Oh my, did I say that!

In my bed much like sleep, and the last thing I'd want to see is the devil welcoming me.

"Be strong", I whispered to my coffee.

Preferably quickly at the age of 100+ in my sleep after a passionate evening. Not a surprise though, oh no, I'd rather know in advance i can say my goodbyes and arrange things.

It depends on the situation.
If i get to live the rest of my life without any worries, then i would like to age at a very slow rate (just like the Indian yogis) and won't leave this place till i'm 800. Then i'll knowingly leave the body.

That implies we constantly get weaker to me and are born strong. Maybe I'm not understanding. I prefer to say that time isn't on our side.

I would say it is akin to a wind-up toy. Once set in motion, the spring can exert a consistently high force for a certain period and then that force begins to diminish until there is no longer any potential left in the spring to overcome friction.

At no time can the wind-up toy infinitely continue on one winding. It is always going to stop, either by exhaustion of the spring or something else intervening.

Once our life is "set in motion", we either continue until the "spring is exhausted" or something intervenes to stop us sooner.

Aren't we all slowly dying the moment we are born?

In terms of cellular regeneration etc, if we can avoid illness or injury we’re mostly on an upward trajectory for the first 30 years or so. After that though, yeah; we’re heading for the earth.

We have some cell types that replenish, others that do not. I don't think regeneration is the right description. Regeneration connotes wholesale organ or structure replacement, which does not occur in our species.

As to an upward trajectory, certainly we are a species that takes a few years to fully develop, but once fully mature, it is only downhill from there. :)

Quickly? Slowly?

Knowingly? Unknowingly?

Why?
I would like to know I am going to die, so I could say my good-byes to people. Slowly is okay, but I don't want to be in a lot of pain for an extended time. Death itself doesn't bother me, in fact I welcome death.
