"If God spoke Chinese only, and spoke to me, I would understand something is being said, but would get little to no benefit from hearing it. I don't speak Chinese."
"Trying to understand speech through modern conventional wisdom alienates us from a million other ways communication takes place."

As I thought on these quotes recently, it dawned on me like a weight falling from the sky right on my head, that God does speak to us all the time.
I then began to wonder if I'd been expecting it to be in my native tongue this whole time, missing out on all the wonderful things God has to say to us, but in a different way.
When a baby smiles at us, when a stranger does a kind act, when someone we love passes away, we all feel deeply emotional thoughts. Yet we know God is Love, right? So, when the baby smiles at us, we experience Love, we experience God. When a stranger does a kind act, we pause to appreciate the depth of the action. This too is experiencing God. When a loved one passes away and our heart is empty, we are also experiencing God.
Communication comes in many forms. God declares he chose ways to confound the wise, but be revealed to the meek and humble.
What better way for God to "talk" to us about Love, than to let us experience it? What better way to talk about pain or empathy, than to experience it?
One can dream or talk for hours of skydiving, but it will never be the same as taking that step off the plane and falling.
Maybe I am wrong, but this changed the way I feel lately. It has allowed me to slow down a little and really experience everything around me, believing this is how God talks to us. It doesn't always have to be a burning bush, or a direct face to face encounter. His heart talks to our heart all day, everyday.
God bless & thanks for reading.
