The Christian belief system will never make sense to me. God creates a bunch of beings who are inclined to be rebellious, violent, jerks when he wants obedient, peaceful, kind beings and then goes through an elaborate process to weed out those that don't met his approval before setting his creation up in the way he really wants it. Why would a creator god who is not insane do this when he could create his ideal universe on the first go around? Doesn't make any logical sense. To reconcile this most believers bring up free will but free will doesn't exist. The only decisions any being can make are limited by their capability to make decisions (brain activity/function) and what options are actually available to them (environment). A creator god would have complete control over both those factors. Therefore, no free will. Also, most believers would say god is loving, merciful, and kind when the world is obviously full of conflict and suffering which is blamed on humanity or other force like Satan. But Satan did not create humanities nervous system which is capable of feeling great pain, god did. Satan did not create disease, god did. Satan did not create a world with insufficient food and water to support human populations, god did. Reality does not mesh with the Christians loving and caring god figure. Jesus also taught that people that don't measure up will go to hell to be tortured. How does a being that claims to be merciful and good justify torturing people after they die. Wouldn't a truly merciful and good being simply let them stay dead? The only way to believe this stuff is to develop an attitude of active ignorance/denial "god works in mysterious ways, best not to question or think about it too much". Some people cannot function that way. Is it really their fault though? If a creator god exists he must have made them that way. Yea, the Christian belief system is too screwy for me to accept.
After my mind was opened up to God with the potential to be immortal and also what stood in the way, I began to read the Bible. I explored many directions at that time, including technology, wanting to understand more in a rational manner, because I could not explain what had happened.
Then the Christian experience was looked into. But to me it is something different and their ideas have formed many doctrines. I do not fit in, it is a culture that is difficult to accept. The Christian religion is not a good example of what the scriptures are about. It is an entirely intellectual exercise and gullible people are left exposed.
When Adam took up a rebellious nature he was then, mortal and biological. What ever happened it has effected the whole planet with a predatory biology with mutation, oxidizing, decay, entropy.
A rebellious nature means we all are able to affect each other by the way we talk and respond and there is a deep subconscious connection that stirs up feelings and memories. We become depleted tired and sickness occurs in the exchanges with others.
If we can change inwardly to a different nature the energy in it regenerates and we make people well. When a person does this on a continuous basis there is an opportunity to be immortal. As an over view it is simple.
It is very difficult for a sensitive person to listen to some people for any length of time. They mask their inner ability to get into the mind. I have only ever listened to one preacher that has not caused me any problems. There are a lot of sick people in churches.
It is necessary to be strong minded and insensitive for safety and that is generally and not just in a church. Most people are equally empowered and are careful not to stir up a conflict because the mind is fragile in some.
It is a difficult situation for every one.
In answer to your question about being burned continuously in a fire. As far as I know hell is the grave and final death with no more possibilities.
