How many Baptisms ??

Hi to all , and many believers say that Baptism means Immersion or something similar !

#1 , In Matt 3:11 , Baptism is linked to repentance and this is WATER !

#2 , In Mark 16:16 , Baptism is linked to Belief , Baptism and Salvation !

#3 , In Acts 2:38 , this Baptism and Forgiveness is Linked to the Murder of Jesus Christ .and is only for the House of Israel in verse 36 .

#4 , In Acts 9:17 , this baptism is the filling of the Holy Spirit FOR POWER . The text should read ; and be filled with Holy Spirit , because the Article ( THE ) is not in the Greek Text and that means it i9s NOT talki9ng about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit .

#5 , In Acts 19:6 and Paul laid his hand on the disciples and Paul Baptized them with the Holy Spirit and they spake in tongues , verse 5 .

#6 , Then in Hebrews 9;10 , the word washing is the Greek word Baptisms and it means to Wash .

#7 , And in 1 Cor 10:2 , the Nation of Israel was Baptized unto Moses in the Cloud and the Sea , and this is without WATER !!

#8 , Then in Eph 4:5 , Paul says that there is only ONE BAPTISM !

What say you ??

I say that all the verses you quoted are speaking of the same thing. How many baptisms? One, as Paul said. Once you understand God, there is no need to try to understand God again.

Hi nstrikevipreMKII , I just wonder how that is all the same thing , must be reading defect , no offense now .

Are you saying that they ALL MEAN WATER ??? DANP

I'm saying they all mean the same thing. Let us look at the baptism ritual nowadays. It is usually done when the child is very young, a week old or so, maybe a month. So really, baptism today has nothing to do with the child. It is a promise of the parents and godparents to be examples of how to live a christian life.
The scriptures, however, do not talk about this kind of baptism. They are referring to an actual immersion into God itself. None of them are referring to the water baptism that we do today. In a sense, the scriptures combine the ideas of baptism and confirmation. As I said before, this is the baptism through which you glimpse God. Once you do that, there is no need to be baptized again.

  4. I think you mean authenticity or validity, but the answer is you.
(It's authoritativeness...and baptize(r) is spelled with a 'z'. Sorry, but I have an almost obsessive compulsive need to correct things like that.)
