How much we're worth!

Feathers in Hair

World's Tallest Hobbit
Okies, this is a take-off on the thread "How Much Are You Worth on the Human Market".
In this one, we'll be celebrating our own achievements and worth, as well as that of our fellow RF members. Each of us will have two posts in the thread, which we will edit to add on to so that we can avoid confusion.

The first post will be one in which you start out by taking at least five RF members and mention something you find praise-worthy about them. (We can edit it as we think of more RF members to add to it.)

The second post will be reserved for listing your talents, achievements, things you are proud of, or things that make you unique. Add at least one thing complimentary to yourself to start off. (Add more at any time, too!) Also, when someone points out something they like about you, add that to this post and quote that person! (For those that are having trouble figuring out how to edit posts, please let me know!)

I'll start off with the next two posts! (Stay tuned! :bounce )

I like feathers because she is nice to everyone, even if they're mean to her. I like Malus because he knows about computers and has helped me a few times, and he's just plain cool. I like kowalski because he's not afraid to say anything, which is really cool. I like deut because he's good at debating and even better at insulting people. I like michel because he's nice to everone, and pretty cool too. I like Luke Wolf because we share many of the same interests, and he's the shizznit. I like Aqualung because she's a nice person and its very entertaining to talk to her.

I'm going to do a few extra to start us off properly! (Ooo, and this goes without saying, but this is not a 'kiss up' thread. Let's make sure we post things we really think about the people we admire!)

Bastet~ Vivacious and independant-minded! Never seems afraid to speak her opinion!

Pah~ Always ready to tackle a problem for RF, and is very easy-going in doing so.

Terrywoodenpic~ This goes without saying, but I'll do it anyway! He's an amazing craftsman.

Scott~ Rarely have I met anyone so well-versed in their faith. He's also quite willing to educate others with kindness and patience!

Michel~ With his gentleness and good sense of humor, Michel makes RF feel even more like 'home'.

Jonny~ Another person who's patient in explaining their faith! He seems to always have a kind word for everyone.

Jensa~ Like her fox avatar, Jensa has a quick wit. She's also always ready to step to the defense of those that need defending!

Deut.~ He tends to keep everyone honest! (Or at least well-informed.) (I'm afraid I might ruin his reputation by noting that he's a kind and caring person, so don't let it get out!)

Todd~ Tries to make RF the best possible place for everyone!

Fat Kat Matt~ Sticks very strongly to his beliefs, and is dedicated to his path. Also has an interest in games that's similar to mine.

Malus~ Constantly working on improving himself. He's been putting real effort into his posts!

Draka~ An excellent karaoke singer, has a high tolerance for pain, and is always willing to take people under her wing.

Orion~ Quite possibly the calmest person I have ever met that has not been under the influence of an interesting substance. Also, very nice!

SnaleSpace~ Makes great scones, which are one of my favorite things to eat! (Also has a wickedly funny sense of humor.)

Hope~ Her love for Brazil is a reflection of her own kind nature, and her avatar makes me drool.

NetDoc~ His puns invariably make me laugh. He's also very welcoming to other faiths and strong in his own.

Darkdale~ I can't say I've ever met someone who's gained such a strong, positive reputation so quickly at RF! It's well-deserved, too!

Aqualung~ She's got a fun spirit, and knows much about her faith!

Katzpur~ She's a feisty one, willing to speak her mind! She also works tirelessly to defend others.

Sunstone~ While his sarcasm might not make it evident, he's very caring, and always willing to help a friend.

Maize~ If I had one tenth of her wisdom, wit and kindness... Well, I'd have one tenth of it! Give me more, I say! :149:

Corrupt_Priest~ Incredibly understanding when people aren't behaving at their best, plus I love that he has faith in people.

Majikthise~ One of my favorite posters! His avatar changes always give me a giggle, plus his journal is among the best!

Luke Wolf~ Close to his gods and brings the strength of the wolf with him.

GlasgowChick~ Not only has she got the name of one of my favorite places in her Username, she's incredibly sweet, too. Her kindness award is very well deserved!

Zephyr~ Has music in his heart and soul, and that shows in his posts.

some of my achievements: I ran 1/3rd of a mile in P.E. without stopping, and got my best time yet of 13:42 in the mile. I also succeeded in creating the goriest paper-mache sculpture of a spartan warrior throwing a spear. I got second-place in my baseball team once. I am good at writing, and have been praised many times in the past for it. I created the book of the jedi. I have gotten perfect 100's in my STAR tests every year (except for math). bout it i guess.

thanks michel.

[font=&quot]And remember the one for yourself, which you can add on to, both with your own comments and quotes from others!

I like that I can get up quickly from setbacks! (Aaaaannnd, as the first example of adding something nice someone else said- thanks, FKM for the example!)

Don't bet on it, Michel! I've always wanted to go to England!

*I saw someone (forget who - in 30 secs!:D )added list to be added to as and when, so don't take umbridge if you're not on it yet - same goes for me*

A caveat; I very rarely look at people's Journals (very remiss); I guess I just like getting 'stuck in' as soon as possible.

Feathers: I like feathers because she comes across as a really caring and genuine person; my great regret is that we will probably never meet.

Fat Kat Matt ; I like Fat Katt Mat because he means what he says, is not afraid to say it
"I ran 1/3rd of a mile in P.E. without stopping" Anyone who can do that is a hero of mine.

Pah: I like Pah. He is honest, intelligent and wise. He shows great compassion where and when it is needed, but he is no one's fool.

QTpi : I like QTpi, because from the first day of joining this forum, I sensed that her avatar describes her charater - those fluttering eyelashes make me go all 'unecessary' ; Pah's a lucky man.

painted Wolf: I like painted wolf; I know very little about you PW, but I sense an intriguing mix of great knowledge and a form of wisdom that I would never associate with anyone so young; You were born the year after my wife and I married...I sense a 'oneness with animals, and all of nature.

Druidus: I like Druidus because he is too darned clever for someone his age - no, I mean that in a nice way. He obviously has a hard time of it (don't we all at sometime or other) - but he usually rises above it by sheer discipline. He has a very open mind, but he has his moral convictions to which he sticks.

Hope: I don't know much about Hope, but whenever we have 'spoken' to each other, I see a lovely warm person, full of compassion - and those photos from Brazil speak volumes about her character.

Seyorni: Seyorni is a bit of a 'blank canvas' for me - he shows great maturity, wisdom and calmness; I enjoy his posts, they are very insightful.

Darkdale: I like Darkdale, because he has common sense (something lacking in too many people). He sees life as it is, and knows more than he realizes.

Glasgowchick: I like Jackie; I love her bubbly character. No matter how things get tough, she is smiling, and will make something attractive out of the ugly.

Scott: I like Scott; he knows his stuff - sometimes I wonder if he hasn't a 'private line' to someone important.......:D

NetDoc: I like NetDoc because he manages to convey the message of Christianity with the uppermost facet of love. He has also a great sense of humour.

s2a: I like s2a, because in him, I see the qualities I would like for myself. He is incredibly intelligent, quick witted, has a beautiful way of writing - which he uses with marvelous alacrity to put over his wonderfully logical approach to all areas of life.

Jewscout: I like Jewscout because he is so determined to follow his choice of faith; he has an amusing and friendly approach, but his impatience in being finally recognised in his faith is so apparent.

Enough for now; I'll come back and add as I can

Five of mine:

Feathers....just the fact that she started this thread shows what a wonderful person she is. Kind, gentle, always thinking of others, not to mention quite witty and intelligent.

johnnys4life....haven't seen her on here much lately, but I admire her so much for her honesty, her boldness in speaking out what she believes, and her kind heart.

Michel....he's British for starters, so I already like him for that! He's also very kind, helpful, and always genuinely interested in what others have to say.

NetDoc....he's funny, got a sharp wit, and I admire his strong faith immensely.

jewscout....he's a fellow 'Richmonder', very intelligent, funny, and I think it's great how he has embraced Judaism, and is so knowledgeable about what he believes

This is a great topic! I'll start my list off with 5, but I'll definately be adding more later so don't feel left out. :)

Feathers - She is happy and friendly. I've never seen her write anything unkind to anyone.

Katzpur - Straightforward and honest. No beating around the bush. She is also very helpful.

Aqualung - Funny and bold. Not afraid to take on the hard stuff. I've also been very impressed at how much she has quickly learned about what can be a complicated religious philosophy.

Darkdale - Openminded and prolific. I love reading his posts and am almost always nodding in agreement.

Deut - I've said before that he's intellectually honest. Also, I believe that he raises the level of the debate by keeping us all in line.

I like Druidus because he has good taste in music and he's a frickin' polar bear that can type!

Michel has always come off as a really nice guy, and is one of those guys whose beliefs I'm sure Jesus would like.

Jewscout has been really cool with the interviewing and has always seemed like a great contributor.

John313, although being among the meat-impaired, has been helpful to me when I first joined RF.

chuck*numbers* has led to some pretty interesting debates, although I feel that he doesn't quite like Muslims very much.

Both Peace and Cordoba have posted all sorts of nifty passages from the Quran and from Hadith. Those are always fun to read and learn from.

Aqualung, who I had always assumed was a guy until Feathers's post, is a musician that likes Jethro Tull. Instant cool points!

Now it's time for some ego boosting.

I have played viola for one year, cello for 6, electric bass for 1, and air guitar for 10ish. My callouses allow me to prick myself with a needle and not draw blood.
I have sighted ghosts three times. The first time I was only 5 and it was a kitty. My parents noted otherwise.

Before coming clean, I had tried ALL sorts of drugs. I once consumed 1800mgs of DXMhbr and 8mgs of 5-meo-AMT in one weekend. DO NOT TRY THIS.
I am a militant agnostic, so therefore I win all religious debates by default. I don't know, and neither do you.
I found that by denouncing everyone I disagree with as a traitor, I win. Traitors are always wrong, right? If you disagree, you are a traitor.
Fire Eating: Kerosene good, lighter fluid BAAAD.

CyanideWyrm: too much metal for one hand, too much metal for one man.
I got to see Hammerfall and Edguy not too long ago. 6 hours is a long time to headbang.
Whoever Tom Tancredo is, I will hate him forever. I don't remember why.

Michel: I get a good laugh out some of his posts.

Okay, here's mine.

Katzpur - Good at staying calm when people are attacking her religion

Jonny - Has about a billion links to stuff that is reallly, really useful

SoyLeche - Strikes me as a very calm, loving person, but he doesn't post that much.

Jewscout - Funny guy who's really serious about his faith, and I wish him luck in that.

Halcyon - Funniest guy on this forum. He brightens my day. I love coming to RF and seeing that he's in chat.

Duet - Honest and smart.

SnaleSpace - A really nice, funny guy. I enjoy IMing him.

Darkdale - Has the best political values of anyone on this forum.

Here are my accomplishments:

I am smart in the way that I pretty much just absorb anything. Through high school I probably only studied for 5 tests total, and I took some pretty hard tests.

I can give good speeches.

I have a good sense of humour.

I only took the SAT once, and I got a 1360 (again, without studying).

I can sort of play bass.

I know that the 80s had the best music.

I have about 350 cds.

I can read almost anything in Spanish.

I am Majoring in Spanish and religious studies, and getting teacher's certification in Spanish, English as a second Language, and Math, and I know I'm not over reaching my abilities.

I was one of the smallest yet one of the best posts in our conference in high school basketball.

That's about all I can think of...

Ok, so I'm not some freakin' genius or anything:D , but here's a little about me:

I've run two half-marathons---one I earned a medal for by placing second in my age group.

I won a spelling bee in elementary school ( granted, though, that I didn't have that many students to compete against, but it still felt good! )

Along the lines of the aforesaid accomplishment, I do consider myself to be a very good speller; I also have a pretty decent range of vocabulary

I have a decent knowledge of Spanish; I've been told by native Spanish speakers that I have a very good accent---I don't speak it with an 'American' accent

I have an even better knowledge of Portuguese ( due to recent trip to Brazil ); I've been told by many Brazilians I speak it very well, and with a very good accent

I've had two poems published, love to write, and have been told I have a natural gift in this area

I can draw---my area of expertise is horses; I can draw a pretty darn good horse

I am certified to teach English as a foreign language

I'm a very compassionate, empathetic person

I've been told I have a lot of wisdom

I'm very patient with people---particularly with children; been told I'm great with kids

All right, no more 'tooting my own horn'! That's about it, I guess....

I hate this part, but now that I have seen other's replies, I have some ideas to copy from.....:biglaugh:

talents: I am the type of person who can make something good out of rubbish; if I collect unwanted bits of rubbish, you can be sure that I will find a use for them within about five years; if, perchance I throw something away, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will regret it within a week when I suddenly realize that I could have used that particular part when repairing something.

Despite being a complete crackpot, I have managed to fool the world long enough to pass myself off as a human being, so that I could work long enough to earn myself a reasonably good pension. I have done well for my family financially; if anything happens to me, I know they will be secure.

I am very lucky in liking most people; I see the best in them.

Oh, and I speak three languages fluently; English, American English, and French.I am pretty good at Spanish and still have a working ,memory of Kiswahili - enough to say phrases like "You are walking very slowly", "Hello, this is my woman"........."This fridge is dead" - all quite useless, I must admit.:biglaugh:
