Assallaamu alaikum

I've noticed I have times khusu' increases and decreases in my prayers. I have days that I feel concentrated, peacefull and connected with Allah during my prayers and my iman increases..other days I forget which rakah I was and which surah I recited.

and at the moment Its not how I want it to be..so what I can I do to increase my khusu'?

The best way to increase the Khusu in Salah is to understand/ponder the verses of the Qur'an that you are reciting in it . Say for an example when you are reciting Suraha Fatiha , you must understand what all those 7 verses are telling you . So on for the rest of the Qirah...

In the below verse one is instructed not to approach to Salah intoxicated / with befogged mind :

[004:043] O you who believe! do not go near prayer when you are Intoxicated until you know (well) what you say, nor when you are under an obligation to perform a bath -- unless (you are) travelling on the road -- until you have washed yourselves; and if you are sick, or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy or you have touched the women, and you cannot find water, betake yourselves to pure earth, then wipe your faces and your hands; surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.

The reason is given in the verse that being intoxicated one would not know what he would be saying and understanding . What then the obligation for the people not intoxicated and praying Salah ? They must know their recitation .

Another tip is before you start praying, reflect on that you will be soon standing to pray to our Creator

I find if you say "Subhana wa bihamdihi, Subhana Allah Al-Azeem" as many times as you can before you pray, you will find more concentration In-Shaa-Allah

And remembering that prayer is an opportunity for us to be closer to Allah (SWT) and to recharge our spiritual batteries makes praying five times a day not only a duty but also an opportunity and with this positive frame of mind, you will find more concentration In-Shaa-Allah
