How to merge in god ?

How to merge in god in our present Life .
This is deep. In my Hindu sampradaya, merging with Siva would be the same as nirvikalpa samadhi in Sanskrit, or Self-realisation in English. It would be a result from many hours spent in the deepest of deep meditation, where there is total loss of ego identity, so that that identity is of the same essence of Brahman, and beyond time, space, mind, the intellect, emotions, etc. Sages also claim that it is not describable.

How to get there starts with dharma, and the dharma starts with the Yamas, and Niyamas, codified in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, which end at jnana.

An odd question to ask in a panentheism subforum. The entire thrust of both of these theologies is that the gods are synonymous with (pantheism) and simultaneously beyond (panentheism) the universe. That includes humans. One cannot "merge" with that which one already is. It is recognizing and becoming aware of this fact that can be the problem, especially since prevailing theologies (at least where I live) deny divinity from the universe and from oneself.
