How to rule with an iron fist

You shouldnt regret it, 30years ago many parents spanked their kids. To this day, I think some parts of America still allow it (am I wrong, americans will have to tell me?)...you obviously felt it was the right thing to do otherwise you wouldnt have done it.....all parents make mistakes, all people make mistakes!

What I regret is that I put my trust in a man, choosing to see (as I was taught) him as a man called by God to serve the families in my ward and stake. We were taught then that The Church made no mistakes, that all callings were inspired, that those called were equipped by God to serve. To say that any man, regardless of his priesthood and calling is infallible is a lie. This man, of course, believed that he was right in counseling fathers to spank their children for crying in church, taking them out and giving them something to really cry about so that they would then fear crying or making noise in Sacrament service … he called it righteous discipline. And yes, I choose to be a good Mormon and honor his authority. Spanking, under these circumstances was not just “spanking” it was abuse! No man, elder, bishop, stake president, seventy, apostle or prophet is infallible, incapable of being and doing wrong.

Me too. That's why I don't even go to church on Mother's Day anymore.

Wow.... i have never seen someone just dote on thier mother/father during a talk on those days. This father's day there was a wonderful talk given about the divine responsibility of fatherhood. and that was only 1 talk. one of the others was on missionary work and another was on service.

same thing happened on mothers day last month. not going to church because you are too good for the talks given is extremely self-righteous
