When I was young (?) I read a book based on the life of a French Basque family.
It was a novel, and yet had an undercurrent of philosophy about it.
Instead of 'telling off' his teenage son, in the book, the father left letters to his son, on the son's pillow each night. Strange Idea, but..........
How often do we all (I hope it's not just me) have silly arguments within the family? Usually, things are said that would not have been said had we been calmer.
This morning, my wife remonstrated with me over something, which, to my mind, she is as guilty as I am. I suddenly remembered that book from so long ago. Instead of launching into a denfence of myself and a counter accusation, I wrote her a note, gave it to her, and asked her to read it.
Ten minutes later she came to me, and we apologised to each other.
Anyone else ever tried this? I'm interested to know.
