How Well Do You Really Know Your Fellow RFers?

@Quintessence has a sharp, analytic mind. Even when I disagree with her analysis, even when I think she has failed to grasp the point (an all too human mistake, I believe), I find myself in sheer admiration of how well thought-out and logically she characteristically reasons. Beyond that, her profound respect for nature is both refreshing and inspiring. Yet, when reading her often brilliant posts, it is so easy to forget that, while still an impressionable youth, she was tragically influenced by an itinerant cord salesman to chose macrame as her sole medium for creating huge, bigger than life sculptures of famous redwoods and sequoias, and that -- quite consequently -- she has never been able to produce even a single sculpture capable of standing up.

@Politesse lives in Central California where he toils as a professor of anthropology while occasionally landing a gig as a bouncer for church ice cream socials. He once fancied the notion of becoming a priest, and consequently spent sometime attending seminary, but forewent that career choice in the end due to having developed a severely disabling and understandably dreaded condition known as anthrophilia -- or "love of anthropology". He is above all else dedicated to his students and is passionate about imparting knowledge and the love of learning to them.

@Buddha Dharma is a relatively new (and therefore lesser known) member of RF, yet quite a promising one at that. He already strikes me as having a solid understanding of mysticism (which implies he's got something of a lunatic streak in him), and his well-thought-out posts are quite often a joy to read. One cannot but hope the scandalous rumors about him are simply not true. I mean, how could they possibly be anything but rumors, eh? Who on earth would really -- really! -- have done what he's alleged to have done -- and while wearing a second-hand chicken outfit no less! I am so confident that the rumors are mere rumors that I myself absolutely refuse to sully his good name by even so much as mentioning anymore about them! Please forget everything I said about them. Please!

@lovemuffin , (formerly known as well named) has an encyclopedic knowledge of early Christian theology and mysticism.

I am pleased to testify that your statement is quite accurate, @Orbit. I believe it is also quite accurate to say that @lovemuffin is a remarkably generous man, a profoundly compassionate man, a person who is genuinely wise beyond his years (excepting only his absolutely inexplicable embrace of the justifiably well-loathed Coherence Theory of Truth, a mistake that even the gods might find beyond their keen to explain in so otherwise brilliant a man), and a person in possession of a beautiful, gentle soul.

It is also very true that he got very lucky when he met you! You were an extraordinarily good influence on the man at a time in his life he needed no less than that.

You and he really do need to drive up here this year!

I heard that he embraced atheism and was working on a pit crew for NASCAR.

ROFL! He might be, but he told me he was running his own book editing business and was rather swamped. I can't recall for sure, but I think he also said he was still working as a "part time pastor".

@Orbit and @lovemuffin became personal friends of mine though our interactions on the Internet, and they invited me to officiate their marriage. Which I did, along with my partner who did all the cooking for their reception. Now, we get together each year somewhere for a few days to celebrate their wedding anniversary, and just hang out with great, brilliant folks.
