Humane AI pin is coming. Will it eventually replace smartphones?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

It looks like a star trek type communicator badge.

It could be an answer to a safer hands free alternative smart/open ai tech device, but all those depressed narcissist teens cant shake their t and a's on screen with it to make money because it has no screen.

Ribbing aside, I don't see it replacing smartphones because people prefer visuals almost as much as audio.

I'm sure it will sell OK, but it's not a replacement device.

What do you think?

And they are charging people almost 300 bucks a year just to use it. I'm sure additional hidden charges will apply somewhere.
It is a cool looking gadget. Honestly its not that expensive compared to the latest smart phones. The price of connection is acceptable depending upon what a person wants. The features are very convenient and cool. I like the idea.

Downside: It is locked into T-mobile and also has a built in (probably glued) battery. It also seems like it is not programmable: which is what some people will prefer for security purposes. Others will prefer that it be programmable or re-programmable.

I see batteries as planned obsolescence intentionally meant to gouge people out of their money.

Personally I think the pin is more of a novelty more than a standard like those phone watches are, albiet I do think the watches will be more competitive against a pin.

Me , I just like having a screen included , but for those who prefer a phone to be just a phone more or less, might go for the technology.

There's no doubt a watch or a pin is less likely to be lost or misplaced than a mobile handheld is.

I will modify that: possibly the battery is removable. It appears that it may clip on.
Removable batteries can be a step back in the right direction. Reducing environmental waste to just batteries, not a perfectly working phone that gets thrown out just over a bad battery because the manufacturer who seals it inside because it wants more money without first requiring an additional charged service call to replace it when a consumer used to do it by themselves.

I cannot wear watches. I wash dishes. Secondly I get skin rashes from watches and always have.

Thirdly I think smart watches are lame. They require a smart phone. Also they have NO BUTTONS. I want tangible buttons.

Also how about including a tiny braille response board? Everybody could find use for it. I might not use it for braille, but I could use it to check the time without looking. Same goes for smart phones. It would be great if I could reach into my pocket and feel the time on the phone instead of having to pull it out, turn on the screen and look. Just reach in and feel the time. That's a useful smart phone.

Profiteers!
The Big Battery Conspiracy!
(That's what "BBC" really stands for.)

Would you prefer that the device have a cord
you could plug into the wall? You could start
a company that makes cel phones & such
without batteries. See which consumers prefer.

This thing really should be made in the shape
of the Federation Of Planets symbol.

A simple replacement battery is sufficient.

Like they used to do in the past without discarding the entire working phone itself in the process.

In a competitive market, if designing for a replaceable
battery results in an optimum balance of cost, durability,
performance, maintainability, & desirability to the consumer,
then it will prevail.
But products sometimes don't lend themselves to being
serviced by the consumer. When I designed a sagittal
saw (for orthopedic surgery), it was necessary to make
it in a way that all the customer could do is replace the
battery. In order for it to be sterilized, this necessitated
a housing that only the factory could deal with.
(The housing would have to be destroyed & replaced.)

No more disco! Well there is a nice polka waltz still.

Old people, potato salad, and beer.

Just a string of solid non flashing party lamps.
I'm sleep deprived enough that it sounds delightful. I love German potato salad! (Though I have to make a vegetarian version.)

Yea. No more bacon in the salad anymore.

I feel the pain.

I miss Big Joe and those two cuties from the Adolf Nimitz Orchestra.
