Hunter Biden indicted today on 3 federal gun charges

In my opinion, it should be that simple. Now, I understand things are seldom as they should be, but... I simply can't force myself to relate here. I don't.

So what? Maybe if we all started paying attention to our loved ones and focused on fixing the crime in our communities rather than families and crimes of people we don't know, will never know, and don't affect our communities, we could make things a bit better around here.

Politics as we're doing them in this country have been a joke for a long time. This isn't politics, this is little more than playground behavior, and it tends to bring out the worst in people.

Well, its stupid, in my opinion. In this war, no one is winning.

I am just waiting for the day when elections come, and I see politicians(I'm hoping more than two, because this is my dream) that I have to look over their qualifications, temperaments, plans, and come out of the poll saying "well, that was a tough choice".

I think we could do better with our etc, etc than pick stuff like this apart.

But, my opinions tend to be wildly unpopular. :D
I agree many things should be as you have stated. Sadly they are not and I've pointed out several of the same things over the years.

Its kind of like how we give too much importance, attention, and status to sports figures and movie stars.

They aren't. I just can't play along, though. It depresses me.

I vote. What else can I do?

I never understood that, either. They don't care what I'm doing, why should I care what they're doing?

However, I think the political fixations are worse, because people get nasty and sometimes friendships end over it. Seldom do people come to blows over favorite actors or sports players.

Witch hunt or legitimate charges? Now remember, 'the law is the law'(for those that use that arguement)

"Two counts are tied to Biden allegedly completing a form indicating he was not using illegal drugs when he purchased a Colt Cobra revolver in October 2018. The third count alleges that he possessed a firearm while using a narcotic"
So how many millions of dollars have the republicans so far wasted on this, and how many of their supporters are guilty of all three of those exact same "crimes"? In fact, how many of their supporters would be all in favor of ELIMINATING those laws that Hunter Biden is being accused of breaking if they could do it? After all, those are "gun control" laws.

Probably about as many millions dems wasted impeaching Trump and they even admitted they knew they wouldn't get the votes and that he would get an acquittal but did it anyway.

All gun owners I know are for stricter guns laws(stricter back ground checks, documented private sales, etc).

So what purpose did all those shell companies serve?
"McCarthy described the payments to Biden associates and family members as having flowed through "shell companies."

A shell company is "a corporate entity set-up that generally has no business operations," said David P. Weber, a professor in the accounting and legal studies department at Salisbury University's Perdue School of Business. Weber previously served as chief investigator for the Securities and Exchange Commission and as special counsel for enforcement with the U.S. Treasury Department.

Generally speaking, Weber said, "shell companies are entities formed in a jurisdiction that requires minimal documentation over who the beneficial owner is, have no active business operations or employees, and are formed for secrecy or privacy purposes."

In the popular understanding, shell companies usually have a negative connotation, often for good reasons, experts say.

Sometimes, shell companies can be created for legitimate purposes, experts said. For instance, they can keep income streams separate if they are to be taxed or regulated in separate jurisdictions, said Daniel Shaviro, a taxation professor at New York University Law School. Weber said he’s seen examples in which gay couples have used shell companies to hide the joint ownership of homes in countries where LGBTQ+ couples are persecuted.

More often, though, a true "shell company" is a red flag for financial investigators, experts said.

"Most shell companies are formed for illegitimate purposes, such as tax evasion, money laundering, other illegal activities," Weber said.

It’s not clear whether companies in the Hunter Biden case qualify as shell companies.

In analyzing the 21 companies cited in a GOP memo that were founded by, in partnership with, or linked to Hunter Biden, the Washington Post Fact Checker concluded that "virtually all of the companies (many of which now are defunct) had legitimate business interests. Others had clearly identified business investments."

For instance, the Fact Checker found entities such as separate companies founded by Hunter Biden that handled legal and lobbying work, the latter of which was disclosed as required under federal law. Rosemont Seneca Partners and several offshoots were vehicles for investments Biden and his associates made in technology, energy and entertainment ventures. "

Not saying they did this but shell companies are good for laundering money too.

It matters to me because I want to see if he gets off with just a hand slap since he is the son of a sitting president or if he will be treated like he isnt't above the law. This is the first time a sitting presidents son has been federally indicted as far as I am aware.
No worries then. He seems to be getting a harsher punishment than a lot of others who've committed the same crime.
