I am not sure if that is the same gun charge that he had earlier that was constitutionally problematic. The only examples of it being used that could be found here earlier were people that were pleading to that as part of a plea bargain. The law itself may not be constitutional. From my understanding it was only used as a lesser charge as part of a plea agreement. Plea agreements cannot be appealed so no one had ever taken that law to court. Odds are that another deal will be made. I do not think that Hunter got a sweetheart deal. The crimes that he was charged for would have had the same outcome for anyone else with the same criminal history. But since he is a political target it appears that they are trying to make this more difficult than it would be for the average citizen. That may come back to bite them in the but when it comes to him being found guilty and then possibly winning on appeal.
