“Seventeen days after Newt Gingrich insisted President Obama should establish a no-fly zone over Libya, he’s complaining that Obama established a no-fly zone over Libya. It’s the same as Newt’s policy on adultery. He can’t make up his mind.” – Jay Leno

This I think is the point (and he did not do this):

"As President, I will not assert a constitutional authority to deploy troops in a manner contrary to an express limit imposed by Congress and adopted into law.”

And Obama did not unilaterally do anything - as the article notes, he had the support of the UN security council.

He is right, he is right entirely. SO why did he declare military action in Libya? President Barack Obama will no doubt claim that the imminent threat to the nation was a threat to our economic status due to the fact that much of our Oil comes from Libya, but this is bull crap. An imminent threat to the nation is one wherein there are forces off of our coast and we don't have time for congress to fight about whether or not we should go to war. The President took longer to make a decision on this than Congress would have!

Okay, can't save the best for last this time. Did you just assert that the UN Security Council is a governing entity of the United States? And that prior to war the president should consult the UN Security Council before the US Congress? The UN Security Council has no say in the actions of the United States government, nor does it voice any representation of the American People. Therefore, as the President of the UNITED STATES he unilaterally decided. His consult was not with a political entity which represents the US. So he represented the US unilaterally, he didn't represent the world unilaterally though.

Now, unto the next place. Deploying troops and authorizing a military attack are two totally different things. We as a nation have the technological capability to win a war without even deploying troops. We could win a war and then deploy the troops as clean up. Obama said that the president does not have the authority to authorize a military attack
he did not say the authority to deploy troops. Now I don't know how many troops he deployed and if they are under the right number but I do know that he authorized a military attack.

Obama:

The quote you have provided as "the point" he was trying to make, was a follow up question, and was related to an entirely different subject than military action.

Sigh* some more military hater crap
I don't hate the military. I hate the use of the military when we're trying to keep our country from economic peril. I hate it when the President listens to the press more than his advisers and more than his intelligence officers who say Qaddafi will win and the rebels will lose. We have no right to intervene in a revolution. People don't even understand the concept anymore. If you want to start a revolution, don't start crying woe is me when you get shot at. They knew damn well Qaddafi wasn't just going to pull a Mubarak and hand his keys over. Anyone with a brain could deduce that. If people started rebelling here, I wouldn't want Russia to support them. I wouldn't want China to support them. Because then that revolution is bought and payed for. If you want revolution you'd better be willing to fight for it and you'd better be more than willing to die for it.

Ah, freedom of information they say. But when comcast and time warner started talking to Al-Jazeera about bringing them on US airwaves, a lot of conservative heads exploded. They signed a petition to have it off the air. Guess freedom of information only applies to information they like. Al-Jazeera has been praised everywhere as solid journalism and its a part of BBC. Guess the Muslim sounding name was too much for some people.

Congressman Peter King (R-NY) held hearings yesterday on “The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community’s Response”. We will ignore, for the moment, the question of just what possible good could come from hearings that seem designed to further antagonize and demonize the Muslim community in the US.
No, what’s really hypocritical here is that King was for years a strong supporter of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), a group that both England and the US labelled an actual terrorist organization (as far as I know, we have not — yet — labelled the entire Islamic religion terrorist).

Florida governor and avid tea partier Rick Scott signed an executive order to have all state employees and people on welfare drug tested every three months. How about that for small government? Forget constitutionality of this insane bill, the obviousness of this bill is glaring.
Guess what? Rick Scott co-founded Solantic, an urgent care chain which specializes in - wait for it - drug testing! Isn't that just a helluva coincidence? But don't worry, he says, he gave up his position in the company - to his wife. Is he the most brazen man ever or what?
Oh and by the way, the bill says people on welfare should have to pay for the drug tests. That's right, people who are so poor they don't have food have mandatory drug tests forced upon them which they have to pay for!

Newt intends on running for President in 2012... been announced ages ago to those who pay attention, as Obama launched his campaign via email and twitter yesterday. Newt (who announced weeks ago) had to make a statement then make one adverse to Obama, etc.... POLITICS, MEDIA, AMERICA! So sad what has become of us!
