Hypocrisy in religion

I was wondering what people's thoughts were on hypocrisy in religion, particularly Christianity.

Many people talk about the hypocrisy of believers not living as they claim to believe. But in Christianity itself, hypocrisy can be observed as well. In addition to contradicting itself, the Bible promotes behavior that is in stark contrast to what many claim it teaches:
The Nazarene: the Worst Sinner of Them All

What are people's thoughts on this? As someone who used to be a Christian myself, I can say that I was genuinely surprised when I came across the massive amount of contradiction and hypocrisy in the Bible. I hope that this information can be helpful to someone else on their journey, as it was to me.

Come on now, have you ever known someone well -- believer or not, Christian or not -- who was NOT in some way or another a hypocrite? Aren't we all hypocrites in one way or another?

Isn't that, in fact, Human Nature 101?

Took a look and its a bunch of badly written assumptions, In particular the accusation that Christianity is part of a plot to control the world. Nobody is in control of it nor has been from the beginning. The popes? No, not them either.

I do not see a bunch of advertising on the site, and that I appreciate. I do not appreciate that it makes things even more confusing than they already are. It does not add clarity. Instead it makes a bunch of poorly or unsubstantiated accusations such as the one above.

Did you wash your hands before you typed that post? If you did Jesus hates you.

This sounds like the opening to a metal song. We could call it 'The Hypocrite Christ'

Hypocrisy is one of those things that's just sort of around. There are going to be times where someone is not lining up to their beliefs, even by a small amount. The best thing to do sometimes is just to take it as a lesson or ask to make up for it (forgiveness without cause doesn't work well. Change to forgive is more likely to succeed).

I wouldn't worry about the scripture too much, especially if you're not Christian. Some of what's in there are stories to be taken as lessons and others are just documentation of what happened in the time.

We all are sinners...Mother Theresa was a sinner, the Pope is a sinner we all are sinners that is precisely why we needed a savior. Having said that...there are those who portray themselves as being very pious and are quick to condemn others...just remember how Jesus responded to religious hypocrites...calling them "...a brood of vipers and white washed tombs filled with deadman's bones..."

The essence of Christianity is we mourn our failings and strive after righteousness...knowing we will fall short and will stumble but we will never stop striving to follow the straight and narrow path.

Here I thought American white nationalists were theists. They even think Jesus is white.

I've grew up weird, wanting to be a good and honest person but I don't feel like that's what majority people want it be. The good and honest are often the first to get taken advantage of and this is in a place where most anyone you run into is 1. Going to be theist and 2. Going to be Christian. Though honesty does always serve me well in the long run, it isn't always fun in the short term. Liars can often get the their immediate fixes at the expense of whoever. Around here everyone talks about Jesus this and Jesus that, while never in a million years thinking they can muster what Jesus was really as proposing. I see mainly a lazy style of practicing religion, like people mainly go through the motions of going to church and believing in God just so they can ask forgiveness from spirits rather than asking forgiveness from people who are harmed from lies and hypocrisy.
