I am the God of this thread so, thou shalt read this carefully.

A. Each question/statement presented is for everybody, not necessarily for the one who answered the previous question.
B. Do not answer my question if it has already been answered by someone else.
C. Do not post reply to someone else's post, I shall be the only one to do so.
D. If you do not follow my rule, you may be ignored.

Question:
Give me the most important question in your life?

"What can change the nature of a man?"

Why change the nature of a man? The nature of anything and everything is to be embellished, not changed. Our nature is beautiful as is. It is the society that we live in that manipulates our beautiful nature to something other than what it once was.

Question:
Why would Socrates say "The true wisdom comes from knowing that you know nothing"?

*************************note - what i said, is exactly what i said. It's not true or false, right or wrong. It is what it is and so are the other people's comments/answers in this thread. Nothing more nothing less.*****************************

That's two questions

Why did you do that?

Why change the nature of a man? was part of the answer for the previous question, the next one is the present question (Why would Socrates say "The true wisdom comes from knowing that you know nothing"?
).

An inbedded question is still a question - isn't it

Because it is true....

Frank Herbert said that "The first step in learning is admitting that you do not already know."

Thanks for your answer. However, I have a slightly different view for the reason why he said it. But as I mentioned earlier, people have different views. That does not make anyone right or wrong. That makes the world we live.

Socrates probably realized that all the knowledge we learn through out our lives mean, absolutely, nothing. The true wisdom therefore comes from admitting one's ignorance and take on the journey to start questioning the ultimate truth that he himself may or may not have found.

Question:
Does a human being have any purpose? - I want this answer to be 'yes' or 'no'. No explanation, please.

Thanks for your response.

Question/RFC: I'd like an individual who has a same view to explain why you also believe there is a purpose for human existence.( I would also accept somebody's comment who believes there is no purpose for human beings)

well said netdoc. may i elaborate on that? thankyou, yes there is a purpose for human existence.

on the basic level : it is to find sustenance (physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual etc) and shelter, as you do.

on a higher level : it is to discover one's true self. ( find out what one's limits are. know how far is one willing to go. know how much one is worth - or not worth. know how much one is willing to sacrifice. to know whether what one believes is true - and to put it to the test or go on faith. know whether one is enough to stand on their own or not. and - so on. )

This is so annoying; I remember reading a quotation (I suppose you would call it - I forget the author, which doesn't help) it goes something like:-

If a man knows nothing, and knows that he knows nothing, he is wise - teach him
If a man knows nothing and knows not that he knows nothing, he is a fool - ignore him
If a man knows, and knows that he knows, he is wise - befriend him
If a man knows, and knows not that he knows, he is foolish - ignore him

Something like that; It must have impressed me sufficiently to be able to recollect the idea nearly 30 years on........:)

Has any one else seen this ?

The purpose of our existance is evolution. But not the same as described by Darwin. We are not only evolving in the physical sense but also in the spiritual sense. And our purpose is to evolve into higher beings, who are no longer bound by the physical world.
