I don't know why you are drinknig again but sometimes people slip up. It doesn't mean you are a drinker now. If it is inportant to you try to go another three years.

This is your choice, but I would encourage you to share it with someone who has stood by you in real life - perhaps an objective friend, a minister, someone.

I think Ardent Listener is referring to Alcohol as a drug, which it is, although not illicit.

I used to take a lot of different things, but now use music. Do you own any YES!, Simon and Garfunkel or Led Zeppelin? They are good for gooooood moods.

I'm sorry that you have started drinking again, as you are obviously upset by it. Three years is a long time, and you should be proud of that. Tomorrow is a brand new day; all you can do is take it one day at a time (cliched, I know). Falling of the wagon is like falling off a horse - if you don't get right back on and try to face your fears, you never will and they will consume you. I don't know the whys and wherefores of your problem (and certainly don't presume to), but finding someone you can talk to helps a lot...if you don't feel you have any family or friends you could turn to, have you considered counselling? I will keep you in my thoughts.

Wish I could say I've been three years without a cigarette. The longest I've went was 5 months. I'm going on 3 weeks now.
If you don't feel you should, then hopefully you will be able to easily stop.

I will sing Thy Name, I will drink Thy Name, And get all drunk , oh, with thy Name.

O Jesus, O Jesus, O Jesus, Amen. O my Savior, come to me, come to me, (oh,) come to me.

The second line was paraphrased for the benefit of Christians.:162:

"When a man 'drinks' God, divine intoxication fills him," said Paramahansa Yogananda. "Sing His Name with all the fervor of your soul; be intoxicated with His Name.":)

Did you mean conversation, possibly?

Constantine, I'm sorry that this is happening. I wish I was there in person, though I don't know if I'd do any good. I hope you're able to get help.

I have been 'dry' since 8th May (except for 1 glass of wine and 1 Cognac - neither of which I enjoyed, because the point was that I drank for the effect; which I dare say is the reason you drink, just obviously as a complete guess.

I'm always here though, Constantine, if you want to P.M me; I have been addicted to most everything at sometime or other (Never non-medication drugs though; and that only because I am a coward). If you need someone to shout at, or to talk to, I 'm quite good at listening...................

Anyway, the offer is there; and that goes to anyone on the forum. I love listening to other's problems, it takes my mind off mine!:biglaugh:
