I had to bite the bullet

I told myself I am not debating against religion and putting down religion; so, this thread isn't about that.

Atheists who are asking for God's appearence/evidence, What are you expecting to see if He* shows up?

What is your definition of God; and, if you met Him, what characteristics would exist to let you know He is God?

Also, what does God mean to you? (just in case Aries shows up but you are looking for Jesus)

*He is for convinence not a specific religion's deity.

I don't have to define God, I'm not the one claiming that God exists. It is up to the theist to define what they mean by God and then to produce objective evidence that the God, as they describe it, actually exists in the real world. So far, they have all utterly failed to do so, most of them can't even provide a credible definition.

A god is anything you worship.

Which theist? If one theist believed in Zues and the other the Diane, and they both appeared to you, which one would you define as "proof that God exists"? What is your definition of God to where when a theist's God appear you know it's the God you (not them and their claim) are looking for?

If an atheist doesn't have a perception of God, regardless of his feelings about this god, how would they know they seen God?

How would they know its evidence without their own definition of how they define God?

If they are just leaning on theists to provide them a definition of God, any God can appear (a theist can claim I am God and I manafest in your kitchen). Without a definition, there is no reason for you to object that I am not God but Zues is... or Zues is and not Jesus.

So, if a God appeared, which God are you expecting to see and what qualities of that specific theist's God will let you know you have proof and not just someone like me poping out of nowhere but not a God?

I actually weigh the definitions and claims that are already put forth. God wouldn't be any issue to anybody if it meets the criteria put out by theists as to the objective aspects that many use to go out and try hard to convince people.

Imo, if you need constant and protracted convincing in any capacity, it's a clear red flag which already proves off the bat that well, it isn't exactly all there.

Also I don't expect any God to show up. Not going to happen anytime soon, nor ever as things are going.

Cool. Would this be enough or would you be looking for a specific God of one religion (say looking for Zues instead of Ordin)?
No god in particular. In fact, it could be a completely unknown god. If it can preform miracle after miracle he's got my undivided attention.

True. There are many theist with many claims. As an atheist, if God appeared, I wouldn't know it was God because I have no definition of what a God looks like (given anything can be a God). So, I would need an idea of what I personally believe God should look like to convience me of this truth. So, if my idea of God is the Christian God, if Zue appeared, He would not make the cut. I'd still be looking for evidence.

Since I don't believe in God, I don't see use of looking for evidence for something that exists to people who believe it. (Just using me as an example)

However, I know some atheist probably have an idea of what type of God they consider as proof of God's existence. Do you have that pre extablished idea or could any "God" appear and it would be evidence?

I would love for God(s) to show up. Whatever He/She/It/Other got across to me I would dive on and live to as best as I possibly could.

But I am stuck in a world where God never says or does anything. Humans claim to speak for God. They often insist that some ancient writing is directly from God. They babble incoherently and claim it is a divine message that I don't have enough Faith to understand.

And the one thing I know for sure about God is that He/She/It could easily communicate with me. I want that, very much.
But God doesn't, so it doesn't happen.

but what if I am the computer....

I would say that you have one heck of a source for your power supply. What kind of battery do you have and how does it recharge?

Within each of your cells the molecular equivalent of your D drive
is without cease translating your genetic code.

You have, I wouldn't know how many gigs of electromagnetic ram in your hippocampus slots.

I'd say you are not your brain, but your brain is the CPU that you are operating. You are some kind of photon of electromagnetic energy inside of a machine full of Dna, Rna, ribosomes, cells, neurons, bones, plasma, blood, fluids, elements, resistors, all sorts of hardware.

One of my gods rises and sets every single day, but some still seem to think that it doesn't exist or is something to be "believed" in. Then there are the others that darken the sky and make you wet if you go outside, and the ones that nourish our stomachs and our minds. These, I am told, do not exist either. It is quite perplexing.

I guess this would be a little off topic, but in my opinion just by your living is enough to say thank you. Not to any person in particular. No metaphysics and so forth. Just a simple inner gratitude that you have (rather than given) life and with that, you can function-body and mind (combination=spirit). That's how I see it without using fansy spiritual terminology. If you are looking for the supernatural, then, of course, I can't really say a lot. I believe our beliefs in God come from our mind and what we interpret in our mind is labeled as "the heart, spirit, or soul".

If we went off of that idea, maybe it's easier to experience "God." We find ways to become whole in life without reaching up for the skies. That free-spirited and, for me, holistic nature that keeps in "in tuned" is how I would define God if someone asked me. I honestly don't believe it's hard not to believe in God (any concept of it). I just think we are already told what gods should look like and that's what we are looking for if not have already.

If you believe that everything comes from the mind, start there. God is a fansy word for interconnection with yourself, others, and your environment. I honestly dont feel you need anything supernatural (or classify it as such) to believe that.

Anyway, sorry. I kinda wish I can help everyone. Life doesn't seem to work that way.

Nam.

Any theist. Anyone who claims that these gods exist, it rests entirely on their shoulders to define the gods they follow and how they came to the conclusion that these gods actually exist. I'm not expecting to see any gods and so far, I have yet to see anything that I would even consider that way. Unlike theists, I take the evidence as it comes and let it lead to a conclusion, I don't start with a conclusion and only go looking for things that support that conclusion.

Great questions. Let me put it this way: I don't know, but I am ready to be surprised. You see, for me it is tough, let's talk big picture. There are billions of stars that span distances that we can never hope to explore. There are endless possibilities and they are only growing as to what could be out there. Out of all of those billions of galaxies, planets, and stars... here I am. I am a statistical anomaly to never be repeated, ever (and so are you!). I guess the God that I picture would be able to explain to me why. Why me, why now? Why are we important, or are we important at all? These are big questions, questions I can never hope to understand, much less answer. I picture God as a person, like me, who has a perspective that I could only dream of. One that He/She would gladly share.

May I ask what is stopping you from pursuing answers to your questions? Fear of judgement and being labeled pseudo by the masses and mind police of control? Your brain and mind have infinite potential. Maybe the cosmos is just a larger portion of your brain. You came from it.
