I hope God washed his hands before touching your fortune cookie...

If you believe that your God takes an active role in human affairs (for example, if you think that he influences certain events, conducts miracles once in a while, or answers prayers), I'd like to know 1) how you know it's God (and not random chance, or some other power), and 2) if you think there are some things that he just won't mess with (such as fortune cookies or games of $5 roulette for instance) or does he control everything?

I don't believe he takes an active roll as you describe. I watch out over my kids, but don't fix the games they play. I allow them to learn. At times, when in dire need, I step in and help my children. I believe God does the same.

#1) If you're speaking of POSITIVE influence...that can ONLY come from God. I'm a Christian who gives God credit for all the good in my life and the good surrounding me.

#2) I think that God is more than capable to intervene at any time and I think it's very possible that He does in His own, mysterious ways. But only if He wills it.

Does that include things like good grades/test scores? Traffic lights staying green when you're running late? A large tax refund? I'm just trying to figure out how much of life true believers think that God micromanages AND at what point you think your freewill takes over.

Also, how do you know the difference between positive and negative influences? Haven't some bad things turned out to be good things and vice versa?

Much is freewill in this life. I'm just stating that I know that there have been instances in my life where I feel that God has intervened to some degree, especially in response to situations that I've really come to Him in prayer on.

It's hard to differentiate between postiive and negative influences at times. I give credit to God for all that is positive. Although, I also accept that sometimes He allows negative things to occur for my edification.

I don't believe God influences our daily affairs whatsoever. For example, many Christians believe that God intervened with the 2004 Presidential Election to ensure a Bush victory, whereas I don't believe God would make such an error in judgment. No, in all serious, I believe people have 100% free will. Other things just happen - sometimes the light is red when you're late and sometimes it's green. An example of free will is when the light is yellow, and that's when I floor it.

If he did, he must have done it to punish us for something.

Why would he change his whole plan for you because you pray:shout to him? Surely he is infinitely more knowledgable than you, so knows what is best for you. If there is a god:bow:, then I'd amagine he would find it extremely irritating:mad: that people, with infinitely less knowledge:areyoucra than himself, try and tell him what to do/what is best. I certainly would. Just a thought.

You completely misread my posts. Part of being a Christian is acknowledging the fact that life isn't about your OWN will but about the WILL of your Father. I simply stated that at times, I do believe that God has intervened in my life and most certainly is more than capable of doing so.
