I know some debate the label 'hate crime', but really?

The attack occurred on Monday at around 11:40 a.m. local time in front of an apartment building in Midtown Manhattan. Police released surveillance footage that showed a man approaching the woman on the sidewalk and kicking her in the stomach, knocking her to the ground. The man then kicks the woman in the face multiple times while making "anti-Asian statements toward her" before casually walking away, police said.
And if that's not bad enough,
The video of Monday's attack also shows people inside of the building lobby who appear to stop what they are doing to watch the incident unfold. One of them then shuts the door as the suspect walks away and the woman is left on the ground. The Brodsky Organization, the company that owns the building, said that two lobby staff members who witnessed the attack have been suspended pending an investigation in conjunction with their union. Man charged with hate crime after attack on Asian American woman caught on video - ABC News (go.com)

If proven guilty i surely hope the perpetrator serves time as a message that such hate crime should not be tolerated. I understand the perp is white so i very much doubt that it will even get to court... i wait and see.

Those damn white guys....oh.....wait.....
Be aware that when reporting news of assaults in Ameristan,
when race of the perp isn't mentioned, they're not white.
When race of the victim isn't mentioned, they are white.

I recently watched Jackie Chan's 2018 film Bleeding Steel in which every foreign character (generally American) is either evil or insane. Evil is portrayed as a high tech/witchcraft American killer robot making murderous chaotic puppy kicking lunatic. Whites & blacks are the slovenly or eccentrically mad foils to the good people who have nice clean Chongua faces and immaculate clothing. Notably there are no Latinos in the film, so they are not represented as villains. Possibly all the villains were supposed to be Americans rather than genetically unfortunate, but I couldn't be sure. It was one or the other. I wondered if perhaps it was some kind of state propaganda and whether this was how Jackie Chan saw things or what. It seems well timed with the current regimes dislike for all foreigners. It was Chongua gene vs. all other gene pools...or perhaps the entire rest of the world was either barbaric or non-existant.

Its not a good time for there to be these kinds of stupid racist expressions here in the 50 states. In particular I don't want the stereotypes in that film supported by the actions of a few idiots, here. I'd also like to know whether there truly is a lot of 'Asian hate' here or if its just some attempt to stir up advertising for news companies who have lost their beloved Trump. Do Asians here feel hated? If so then of course I can understand the typecasting in the film, but seriously. All villains were American in the film. Kinda spooky.

Jackie Chan has long supported the PRC's politics.
This doesn't receive a lot of attention though...except in Hong Kong.
(It's raised some ire there.)

Yes, true; but for him its either that or be jailed. I certainly wouldn't stick my neck out all by myself. He's doing what he can to make life better for people as well as he can, and I can't blame him for it. If someday he decides to break with PRC and criticize its politics and get himself disappeared or jailed...well that's over and above. How long did it take for the English to get their nobles to see reason since 12th century? I hear they're still working at it.

He does have the option of silence.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
From what I've heard of him over many years,
he's a true believer.
It's hard to tell. Communist China's mandatory citizens/social credit score is insidious and unfortunately effective.

China has started ranking citizens with a creepy 'social credit' system — here's what you can do wrong, and the embarrassing, demeaning ways they can punish you

I do think he's fond of Hong Kong and thinks highly of the place. Not so sure when it comes to mainland China.

I do not know if Asians here feel hated, but there is a growing number who certainly feel threatened.
I and I feel with good reason. I liken it to the time when Muslims felt threatened post 9/11. I think the past four years both exploited and justified the resentment, add to that mental instability or 'patriot' garbage, and it paints a very scary portrait and threat to our 'experiment' in democracy.

The UK went through it after Brexit and to some extent it had stuck and festered. The incidence of hate crime doubled leading up to the vote.

EDIT Spelling error fixed

Sometimes it seems that America has become a country based on hate while professing to being a "Christian country".

I saw pictures of the individual of interest, an African-American man.
