What an interesting discussion! It is nice, the different people you can meet on MySpace. I met another Turkish guy, and he looked like of Slavic so I asked was he Bosniak - and he said "No, I'm too short and I don't own a gun" - hahaha.
So I was asking him what is the impression of Bosniaks in Turkey and he said they think of us like Italians are shown in American movies. Nice shoes, close families, big obcession of family honor, often mafia, etc. And I asked was it for all Bosniaks, or just Turkish Bosniaks, and he said just for Turkish Bosniaks.
He was telling me that in Turkey it's very unpatriotic to not assimilate completely but Bosniaks and Kurds, who are Muslim, and Armenians, who are Christian, are the three groups that seem exempt from this, because their numbers are so high in the regions where they live, that their culture and even language in some cities becomes dominant.
And I asked him about fashion, and he said Bosniaks are stereotyped the least fashionable in Turkey - hahaha. Because their women wear 1950s-style gowns, only more modern, high heels, hair always curled, like old movies. He said the two biggest mafia families in his city are both Bosniak families, but one is really mixed with local Turkish families.
That's so weird.
