[Holy Quran, Surah Al Baqarah chapter 2 : verse 186]
The month of Ramadhan, in which The Quran was descended as a great guidance for human, and as such manifest signs, in which there is detail of guidance and matters which differentiate between truth and false. Thus whosoever of you finds this month, let him fast therein. And whosoever is sick or is on journey, then completion of the number will be in other days. Allah wants ease for you and does not want difficulty for you and wants that you should complete the number (with ease). And mention Allah’s greatness, based on the guidance, which He granted to you and so that you become grateful.

The significance of Holy Quran, its status, the need to practice it, how to practice it, to which people it become means to develop life, what are its effects on human life, etc….There are many matters which Allah the Exalted told us in Holy Quran so that we should practice according to this great Book of Shariah to achieve progress spiritually, religiously, morally and in worldly life as well.

The above verse tells relation of blessings of Holy Quran with Ramadhan. By relating Ramadhan with Quran, the importance of Ramadhan is further highlighted.

By saying “shahro ramadhan allazzi unzela fihil quran…” [(2:187) i.e. The month of Ramadhan, in which The Quran was descended ], it is told that the relation of this last Shariah perfect Book is with Ramadhan………….

A person:
= who wants to make progress in his faith,

= who wants to spread this last perfect Book of Shariah in the world and the world know about it,

= who wants to try to go in the time of Holy Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be on him),

= who wants to get nearness of Allah the Exalted and hear the voice “fa-inni qareeb” [i.e. so surely I am near],

he should pay the right of Ramadhan and Quran and understand their mutual relation……..In this month, these distances are shrunk which seem far in other days. A momin / believer should seek blessing in this month as much as possible.

Commentators have written about this part of the verse that Ramadhan is so important that special directives about it are sent down in Holy Quran.

Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said, in this regard: “shahro ramadhan allazzi unzela fihil quran…” This is the one sentence, from which greatness of Ramadhan is known….. He also said that due to this greatness, the reward of fasting is very big and great too but for those who pay the right of relation of fasts and Quran.

The right is that: Along with keeping fast, one should read Holy Quran, ponder at it, read its commentaries…. There are many who do not read and ponder at Holy Quran during Ramadhan too as it ought to be. This matter need attention.

“shahro ramadhan allazzi unzela fihil quran…” also means that: In this month, [the revelation of] Holy Quran began to descend. According to Hazrat Aishah (peace and blessing of Allah be on him), each year in Ramadhan, Jibraeel would revise, till-then-descended-Quran and in the year of his Meeting [passing away] this revision was done twice…..Thus Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)’s model guides us that we should finish at least one reading of it in Ramadhan. Also ponder at it.

Only then we shall be able to follow the words of God the Exalted: “hodal linnas” [guidance for human]..It is guidance for those human who desire to get guidance from it. Guidance without reading and understanding Holy Quran is not possible to get.

Each guidance in Holy Quran is furnished with logic. Read it, understand it and apply on yourself. When logically understood, action done is with heart and is real and is based on grasping the sense of guidance….

The guidance is with “baiyenaat” [manifest signs] can easily be conveyed to others. Thereby the Quranic directive of Conveying message is fulfilled.

It is announced that it has “furqaan”; such solid and clear arguments are there which differentiate between truth and fasle. Whosoever acts according to teaching of Holy Quran is distinguished than others. He shows distinctive high state of practice, spirituality and faith than others. When we talk to others with Quranic argument, no other religion and Book can compete with Holy Quran because it has such teachings, historical evidence, arguments compared to other religions, which prove their superiority like bright day light.

Holy Quran announces that it is from God the Exalted from start to end and is / will be preserved in its original state.

Thus Allah the Exalted teaches that during the Ramadhan-struggle of fasting, Holy Quran’s treasure of knowledge and wisdom should be read and learned too. BY pondering on its directives practice them too. Refresh the part which you have forgotten by repeated repetitions. Regurgitate its teachings in this month and self check how much you are practicing on Holy Quran…..These are the matters which brings success in this worldly life and in Hereafter.

Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says about “hodal linnasey wa baiyenaatim minal huda wal furqan” [a great guidance for human, and as such manifest signs, in which there is detail of guidance and matters which differentiate between truth and false]:

“The Holy Qur’an has three qualities. First, it guides people to the knowledge of the faith that had disappeared. Secondly, it sets forth the details of such knowledge as had been briefly stated. Thirdly, it sets forth the decisive word concerning matters over which differences had arisen and thus distinguishes between truth and falsehood.” (Brahin-e-Ahmadiyya, Ruhani Khaza’in, Vol. 1, pp. 223-227, footnote 11 – Essence of Islam, Vol. 1, p. 482)
