I liked the poem I Walked a Mile with Pleasure by Robert Hamilton
He makes the point that sometimes you lose everything and asks if you will keep on with Christ anyway. That represents a *level of commitment which is a good attainment* but only if you understand what you are committing to. Commitment is no substitute for agape love and peacemaking. Agape must be the goal, and commitment will follow along like a cart follows a horse. Spoken commitments are often like cart before horse and only delay actual commitment.
So what actually happens when everything is taken away? You find out your actual level of commitment. You can't improve that by making lots of promises beforehand.

I also loved the part when he speaks about seeing the challenges, as gifts and opportunities gifted to you by God
The tougher it gets the more deep I feel connected to God. There were times when I had less trouble (challenges) and I prayed for more. Just because I experienced God more when in trouble. Now I don't ask for more trouble. Still plenty left, I guess, because God seemed to love these prayers, and granted many
