I think it's unfair to call Messianic Jews this

I always thought it was unfair to say that they aren't a real religion and that they are basically Christians in Jewish drag. Or that they are practicing Christians pretending to be have the Jewish identity so they can infiltrate and convert Jews to their faith.

Anyone see this kind of mentality. It's rather unfair if you ask me. Are there any Messianic Jews than can explain this?

OK, I'll give it a shot.

Yes, there were Xians who did just what you say, "...pretending to be have the Jewish identity so they can infiltrate and convert Jews to their faith."

This is a fact, with undeniable evidence supporting it. I've met them personally.

But, there are also Xians who genuinely desired to find and adopt the roots of their faith; as practiced by the founders of their faith in the NT.

Again, I've met them personally. Nothing beats first hand knowledge.

On the other hand, there's folk like me, who come from a Jewish background seeking answers.

The entire MJ movement is best viewed as a spectrum, with a much wider assortment of belief and doctrine than any other Abrahamic faith; as it spans the grey area between two very different faith communities.

Green Gia's Overview does accurately present this, and is highly recommended.

I agree--it's a spectrum. However, I'm not a Gentile now claiming to be a Messianic Jew. I'm a Jew who trusts in the Messiah. You know Him as Jesus Christ. Therefore, I'm not a Gentile but a Messianic Jew. However, the word Christian means "follower of Messiah" so I can wear that label if it helps.
