I wonder if the Lord lead me here

For around two years now, I have been followed by an evil spirit. I think it may be the devil himself. I have been sent to psychiatric hospitals three times since it began. My marriage ended. I had to drop out of school and quit a job.

I am unsure what to do. I am worried for the safety of my family. I have read that the devil is powerful and can kill people. He has not yet killed anyone in my family. I hear voices telling me to kill myself.

I've challenged him to fights. I actually have been ignoring everything for the past few months, but today I received an email about this place and the evil spirit revealed himself to me again.

I am probably what many would consider a tough guy. I have challenged this spirit to fights many times, to settle things once and for all. I don't know if I am supposed to do that. I know Jesus Christ is here and He has saved me forever. I will not kill myself or others.

Is there anyone here who can help me? A pastor that knows anything about exorcisms or someone like that?

About exorcisms - as a minister I can tell you that you are almost certainly not possessed, and if you were, you'd be screwed.

You really don't want to go down this road, trust me. You'll more likely come into more harm by exploring evil than from what you're experiencing now.

I know you've been to psychiatric hospitals three times, but did they ever actually diagnose you with anything or give you medications?

Whatever the case, if you've been hearing voices that tell you to kill yourself, go see a psychiatrist or a psychologist ASAP. Get professional help. That is what any responsible pastor would tell you. More than 95% of the time, it's not a demon that's possessing you, but a mental issue.

If your case is one of the exceptionally rare ones and you are in fact possessed by a demon, you want to pray like there's no tomorrow. Practice prayer and fasting. Pray without ceasing. Also, I'd get in touch with either the Catholic or the Orthodox Church, or a pastor at the church you attend with a lot of experience. But you probably aren't one of those rare cases. Chances are, there is no evil spirit, and you just really need to get in touch with a psychiatrist or a psychologist, get your mental/emotional problem diagnosed, and start a regular schedule of medication and therapy as prescribed by the doctor.

I do not believe anyone who is indwelled by the Holy Spirit of God can be possessed by a demon. The Holy Spirit does not share it's temple with demons. So if you are a temple of the Holy Spirit then you cannot be posessed by a demon. Now maybe a demon may try to influence you from the outside but i believe demons flee from a Holy Spirit indwelled person. So if your problem is demonic in nature then it is probably the case that you have not accepted Jesus as Lord and Redeemer and the Holy Spirit has not come to dwell with you.

I am not an exorcist nor do i know if your possessed or are being afflicted or if it is simply a mental condition that ails you. I do not know if you have been involved in occult activities in your past either.

I would advise you to seek to learn the will of Jesus and understand the Gospel Message and to make sure you have both accepted Jesus as Lord and trust in the gift of His Atonement for the forgiveness of your sins. It may be the case that your troubles will cease when you are within the will of God and have truly accepted Jesus.

More than 95% of the time, it's not a demon that's possessing you, but a mental issue.

Is that code for 100% of the time, or can you give an example where a psychiatrist from a developed nation in today's world has actually come forward to suggest that someone has been possessed? Can you come up with anything that fulfills most of this? I'd really like to see an interesting case so do you have anything of worth my time?

OK - I didn't read this and I apologize.

My advice to you as a Christian minister is this: FLEE to the nearest hospital, tell them what you told us, and they will admit you. Be honest with them, take your medication. Go to the therapy hours and be honest.

I suspect that if you told us the truth and you're hearing voices, and you previously sought medical attention, you're not taking your meds. Take your meds or you will die.

Do not listen to people who advising you to merely take your meds. Can you imagine Jesus giving anyone this kind of watered down advise?

IF there is a spirit tormenting you then I would suggest you don't try to have a fist fight with it. You will not win. Only deep heartfelt repentance and prayer can give you the guidance for how you need to handle this situation. If it is a spirit, then God will reveal to you how this spirit gained entry to you. All you need to do is pray with honesty and sincerity. Be willing to admit your transgressions as he reveals them to you. He will likely reveal the root cause of this issue so you can effectively pray for release.

Always remember that spirits can NOT override our ability to choose. They only linger around us because we have made a choice to give them access through some kind of sin. No matter what that spirit tells you about yourself (all lies by the way) do not believe it. Read the words of Jesus and also the Psalms as much as you can. Ask God to reveal to you your own true identity, and choose to listen to Him. Spirits will always try to convince us that we are not who God tells us we are. They play the same games with all the people they attack.

Any Christian that tells you to do nothing but take your meds I believe you should just ignore and perceive him to be a non believer. This type of man is clueless to the ministry of Jesus and His 12 and the way that he dealt with these types of spirits.
