If i wasn't an atheist i'd be a heathen (norse folk mythology) because of the elegant tales of creation. If you have to believe in some sort of creation and god figure/s you might as well pick the one that you think sounds the coolest :)

If I weren't an atheist (or an agnostic), I'd probably be a wiccan. It's a lovely religion, and I think it would be a great fit for me, if I could believe in that sort of thing.

If I weren't Gnostic I would probably be an Eastern Orthodox Christian...

They may not look that different at first, but there is a world of difference between these faiths on their basic tennants of belief. If I weren't Gnostic, I would like to join the Eastern Orthodoxy because they may be one of the few Christianities left that include the feminine and the sacred in the ways I understand them. My Grandma was also EO, so it would be a very emotional transition to make. It's very much, to me, a mystery religion. While I'm not a fan of magic or mystery in the modern sense, I mean that mysterious "awareness" is a big part of the underlaying faith. I really like the sense of "holy" that I get when I walk into an EO church. I feel very at home. :)

If I'm not allowed to pick another type of Christanity... I'd probably go for Taoism. Much for the same reasons I'd go for the EO church. Minus the Grandma bit.

IF I were not Mormon, I'd probably be agnostic.

I've invested so much into Mormonism that if I left it I don't believe I'd have the energy for anything else. I'd come to the conclusion that there's something out there, but we can't know or define it.

Okay, dumb question here. Is that a sect of Hinduism?

An offshot, yes. Much like UUs and Mormons, they find that any religion based upon personal insight and treating each other with dignity and respect has something to offer.

If I weren't an agnostic atheist, i'd be an atheistic agnost.

I don't know. I am what I am because I am that. If I were not what I am, How could I know what I would be if I am not that now?

If I were not a UU I'd probably be Buddhist. But I wouldn't be a very good Buddhist. I already incorporate some Buddhist ideals and values into my life, so it wouldn't be much of a stretch, really.

That's OK, Amy. I'm a terrible Buddhist. :angel2:

If I were not a Buddhist, I'd probably be a Jew. I base that off of my personal experience with Jews and how there is some way that we "click" in our mindsets.

If I were not a [Jewish] atheist, I would probably be a [Buddhist] atheist!

and no, im not saying that to get more points from Heather! :D

One of the reasons, is my effection for Zen Buddhism, for the similarity I preceive of Jewish studies through the centuries, and Buddhist ones, in the sense of studying things in depth and with much care, not leaving a single rock unturned. and because that what I would call high Buddhism, teaches the person critical and independent thought, even including renouncing faith in the Buddha himself when direct personal experience counters with what the Buddha said!

..........

You ought to. Have you forgotten that all staff members are required to suck up to the administrators? :p

If I weren't a Quaker Buddhist I'd probably be a Buddhist Quaker. ;-)

If I weren't an atheist, I'd probably be a heathen, for the same reason as Darkendless:

If I was not an evil republican reverend, I would probably be a staff member of RF.
Being an evil Republican reverend doesn't disqualify you. Or did you mean your evil deeds don't leave time for being a staff member? :D

Being a staff member isn't as much fun as it sounds like. It's kind of like being the janitor at a nice hotel. You spend more time cleaning up other people's messes than relaxing at the pool. It really takes a lot of selfless dedication to keep at it for very long. You can't just come on when you want, read what you want, and say what you want. The only thing I miss about it is the ability to swat spammers at odd hours of the morning when there are no staff members online. :)
