There are a lot of comparisons to the past in this thread. The climate was hotter. Antarctica used to be hotter. And so on. One thing that is different now is that there are now 8 billion humans all looking to get fed, find shelter, reproduce, and enjoy their lifestyles. A signature effect of climate change brought on by global warming is that the food supply for that many people is already under great stress, and arable land is going to shrink rapidly. Most of the major population centers in the world are on the coasts, which are going to be changing drastically with rising sea levels. It's one thing to ignore what is coming. It's even worse if we don't plan for the changes that we know are coming.
