Unevolved people may leave their bodies while they sleep and visit places they are extremely attached to materially, such as a workplace. These individuals might take on the form of green snakes stretched out on green grass to make it harder for others to see that they are actually 'serpents.'

According to Scientology, if you made one, well, they call them thetans, basically your spiritual identity, leave their body, another one could take their place.
