If your house was on fire, what would you grab on your way out?

It goes without saying that I would make sure my babies, my dog, and my hubby were ok. But if I had time I would also grab:
  1. My computer box (with all my digital photos!)
  2. My saxophone
  3. My wallet

That's a pretty slow fire, Tex. :p

If my house (apartment) were on fire in any aspect I wouldn't have time to grab much unfortunately. I'd probably try to get my cats out safely if I could. I don't live with anyone so I might have more "personal" things I could save.

In order of importance, I would rescue:

1) My Abbey Ales.
2) My 1554 Enlightened Black Ales.
3) My Tripple beers.

I would then throw my upstairs neighbor's Miller Lites into the fire.

oh no you di'int
My doggies!!!

But material things......I actually don't have anything THAT worthy of me trying to save. I have a lot of stuff I love...but one thing doesn't stand out.

seriously.... things?
(assuming all people are out)

Ultra my I-doll.
first and foremost.

Any other personal "magick" items I love.
(they are located mostly together. An easy grab)

Then my computer and musical instruments.

You have a point. But what you fail to realize is that I have very long arms. And I'm a fast runner. And I have a very high heat tolerance. So actually I'm going to go ahead and add two more things to the list:

-My son's soccer trophy
-My hubby's signed Michael Jordan jersey

Charity

Let's go racing boys !
My dog and a coat or blanket because it's cold outside......Also my hand bag and truck keys so I could at least get in and stay warm....

mrscardero

Kal-El's Mama
Kal-El's urn and the display case cardero made
for me in remembrance of him. Also our cat, "Baby".
I would also agree with Charity about the coat or
blanket and keys to get in the car to stay warm.
I might grab cardero if he is home...:D

I'd save Baggins, of course!! :D

And I'd also let my mom and sisters know that the house is on fire...

And we'd have to save the other dogs as well.

And I'd get my moneys. And my photo albums.

Then I'd put the fire out... I think I would do that first actually... then I wouldn't have to bother with the rest...

I would miss my music the most. I have spent upwards of $2000 on CDs, and I would be devastated to see them go. My computer can go - if I get a new one, I can always upload my CDs again. But these disks are priceless - each one carefully mulled over, pondered, selected and finally I decided "yes" to buying them.

But then, I would miss my books as well...

About $2500 in textbooks
And I own several rare comic books (still in their plastic wrappers)
and a few hundred dollars worth in novels and... spiritual books...

Again, I'd be devastated to lose those

I just have far too many CDs and far to many books to carry in one go. It'd require at least 5 trips back and forth.

In order of priority though,:
CDs
Spiritual books
Textbooks
Comics
Novels

Music is just such a part of me.. I couldn't bear to think about a life without Led Zeppelin to sleep to at night...

Assuming my kids weren't home:

  1. My Blackberry
  2. My laptop
  3. My wallet/keys
My sax is safe at my parents house. :p

Oh hell yeah!

Almost forgot! My purse!
I certainly don't want to have to deal with
motor vehicles
credit card lenders
AND the insurance company all at the same time!

Better to just die in the house 'twould be!:areyoucra

And as for your keys Gaia...
well I don't think you'll be needin' em any more. :p

1. My pants, if I wasn't wearing them. Since I tend not to take my pocket things out of my pants when I take them off (I just transfer them the next morning), this would also mean I'd have:
- wallet
- keys
- cell phone
- Swiss Army knife (given to me by my late father when I started Scouts and one of the few physical items I'm attached to for its own sake)
- gum (I wouldn't really need the gum... I just tend to keep it in my pocket :))

If the fire was a big one, that'd be it. I assume that my wife would be making her way out on her own at this point.

If the fire was small enough that I thought I could put it out (which would make it pretty darn small - I know how difficult it can be to put out a fire), or if there was someone else in the house unable to get out, I'd also grab:

2. Fire extinguisher
3. Heavy work gloves
