It just sounds goofy, but it's better than calling all sodas "coke" regardless of their actual brand and variety like they do in the south. All civilized people refer to soda pop as "pop".
Brits do too apparently.
Such a service died off many, many decades ago in the U.S. We just buy it at the store and refrigerate it like any other perishable product. But now having not just milk but all groceries delivered is becoming popular. We had milk delivered right up until we left the UK, so its not that old.

I'm so old that out country phone line had 9 people. each with a code. Ours was 3 shorts. (all were a combination of shorts and longs) All neighbours could listen in on each other. Occasionally we'd feed false gossip to one ol' biddy, and wait to see how long it was before it got back to us.....that when I was in elementary school,
desks still had special holders for inkwells.
How old are you?
All this nostalgia, who said its a thing of the past?

360? 80K was pure gold.I'm so old my first hard drive had 100 MEGABYTES on it----and that was high powered!
I'm so old, the first computer I owned was booted using 360K floppies.
Now of course, "pluck your magic twanger, Froggy" can have another meaning.I'm so old that I can remember "Smilin' Ed McConnell and his Buster Brown Gang" and Smilin' Ed telling Froggy: "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy!" and when it cost $0.25 to get in to see a movie unless you bent your knees, looked as short as an 8-year old, and got in for a dime.
You've got me beat. I'm a young whippersnapper compared to you, gramps.I'm too old to remember most everything,
except for the ice man twice a week,
when I turned 10 we got a refrigerator !
O.K. Aup….I'm 82 in Nov....how about you ?
I could deal with IEBISAM and IEBPTPCH.I remember learning RPG(Report Program Generator), writing in binary. Worstar 1.1.
I also remember IBM's horrific manuals which no one ever could understand or use.
ETA: I also remember this
Yes and yes.Remember static at the end of the day on TVs?
And the sign off messages?
Yes when I first heard people talking about RPGs,I wondered why the language suddenly became so popular.(I was never into gaming).
