Even here on the forum you hear how Islam and Muslims are the enemies of the west. But it's not true. Al Qeada has killed only a small number of western people when compared to how many Muslims they've killed. Here is just a small example.
I don't see how that is supposed to reassure western folk about the well intentions of other Muslim factions or sectors. These people kill each other wholesale, and occasionally try to do the same to western people. It's a bit like saying that the Ayatollahs are the enemies of the Iranian people for keeping them low for so long... well they are also the enemies of many other people outside Iran who have no direct share in the consequences of their cruelty, at least not anything that they notice on day to day basis compared to the people in Tehran.
If anything, it worries many people how easily Muslim sectors are willing and ready to finish each other off making them weary just how easily they could do it to them, 'the infidels', the 'west', the 'Zionists', etc.
I'm residing in a country which borders with a nation in which Shiites and Sunnis have killed well over a hundred thousands people and made millions of refugees. One of those factions is Al Qaeda or Al Qaeda related, but it's safe to assume that most if not all factions, no matter the religious or political ideology are not our friends. If anything it should be a red flag for us that hundreds of thousands have been killed around us in the past 2-3 years, and millions more are crossing to bordering nations as they run for their life, hundreds of them decide to turn to us and risk their life by crossing the border to be treated by us, the Israelis, their so called cosmic evil arch-nemesis.
All that desperation is anything but reassuring. But is definitely eye opening.
