I couldn't agree more...Number one, respect, not the "I respect everyone but the gays/terrorists/athiests/blacks/etc." brand of it, real universal respect.
And number two, a sense of honor. I guess I'm a little old fashioned like that.
If somebody's got those two things, then I'll be proud to know'em, no matter what else they might have.
