In memoriam: Forrest Church

One of the great Unitarian-Universalist thinkers, writers, and speakers of our time has died. Forrest Church was the author of many books, countless sermons and speeches, and the leader of our largest congregation in New York City. I heard him speak several times at General Assembly and always came away with something valuable; including the last GA I attended where he spoke about facing death.

A complete article about him is on the UUA website:

UUA: In Memoriam: Rev. Dr. Forrest Church: Theologian, Author

He writes in Love and Death, “The goal is to live in such a way that our lives will prove worth dying for…The one thing that can’t be taken from us, even by death, is the love we give away before we go.”

“Let us never forget what a privilege it is to be part of this great movement and to pronounce its saving faith: one Light (Unitarianism) shining through many windows (Universalism).”

Rest in peace, Dr. Church.
