In the matting game humans reversed the roles played but why?

In the animal kingdom it is the male that shows off his beautiful feathers or his fancy dancing to entice the females of his kind but in the human world it is the females who fluff up their hair, eye lases and lipstick to entice the male.

Why the reversal in the role of matting-?

Men do it, too, with grooming, body building, wearing fine/nice clothes, having swagger, etc. It's just that both men and women do that sort of stuff to attract mates. You probably don't notice men doing it as much because I'm assuming you're not gay or bi, but you should be able to notice it when you compete with a guy over a woman. We don't have set mating patterns as in other animals.

I picked Cam Newton as an example because he's a macho football player. There are lots of men around the world who like flamboyant clothes.

Something else just occurred to me.
In the humans, men are valued by women for their ability to defend and provide. "Big strong and rich" is often valued over "Snappy dresser", although not always. So maybe the $8,000 dark blue suit says something women care about more than a gold lame outfit.

What if they don't?
Women don't have to do much of anything to attract a man.
I mean, just think of the nastiest, drug addicted, disease ridden prostitute you could possibly think of... and then realize there is no shortage of men willing to pay her to have sex with them.
Personally, I think it's more to impress other women than it is to impress men.

The example you gave is the exception to the rule not an example of the majority of males. Males in general no not wear lipstick or highlight their eyebrows or put on makeup to attract the attention of the females. Unlike all the other animals in the animal kingdom; humans play the role in reverse.

But I am still open to a different view.

He is more anomalous in your culture than the large majority of cultures.

Look at clothing around the world and through the centuries. Emperors, Warriors, Popes, Princes, when men have the resources to do it they cover themselves in glitz and bling.

They always have. The drab clothing of western elites is the anomalous dress.
