Inner demons

Do you face your inner demons? And if so, what do they look like?

Mine involve a version of myself which values logic, but doesn't value empathy much.

Here's a song I like on the subject:

I have logic and empathy. Neither are demons imo

That's good.

I think a lack of empathy, in certain cases, can be a personal demon. It can potentially cause one to be cold, insensitive, etc. But I'm not sure that is always the case either, though.

Right when you’ve been hurt too many times by someone (ie. An alcoholic hurting themselves) it’s time to turn that empathy down some

What this thread makes me think about is something perhaps a bit adjacent. That all humans have within themselves a killer, a murderer, a slayer; a vicious, violent, vehement expression of will that destroys all that dares stand in its way.

Probably not something for polite conversation, honestly. I'll leave it there.

Would you then also suggest that all humans have within them the capacity to love, to sacrifice for others, to care and nurture?

I don't know if I really have what I would call 'inner demons'. I have negative thought patterns, but they're usually in response to external events

For me, the way I might describe "inner demons", is to think about whatever it is that might cause one to do things like drink all the time, be reckless, or just not be responsible, then describe either that lower self, or elements of that lower self, as an "inner demon".
