Insulting Women

Hi my Muslim brother and sister.

I see some ads when I come in RF.

I saw the following one today which Islam does not permit. Isn't this insulting women and using them as tools of advertisement?

Allah Ta'ala says:

Chapter 24,
Tell the faithful men to cast down their looks and to guard their private parts. That is more decent for them. Allah is indeed well aware of what they do. (30) And tell the faithful women to cast down their looks and to guard their private parts, and not to display their charms, beyond what is [acceptably] visible, and let them draw their scarfs over their bosoms, and not display their charms except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or their slave girls, or male dependants lacking [sexual] desire, or children who are not yet conscious of female sexuality. And let them not thump their feet to make known their hidden ornaments. Rally to Allah in repentance, O faithful, so that you may be felicitous. (31)

Would that ad be insulting to women who are not Muslim? If so, why?

Would it not be safe to say that different cultures have different views about morality and/or what is acceptable in public?

Depends on the geographic location and culture. In America, no it is not insulting. Not everyone is Muslim.

Think based on your reason, regardless of any culture. Is not this insulting them because of using their beauty as tools by businessmen? Businessmen only see the beauty of women as tools for earning more and more mony, i.e., wemon = mony. Is not this insulting women?

I am going to reply to your reply and leave it at that, because this is the Islam DIR. I live in the USA and here, both men and women can work as equals. There are businesswomen who make money just like men, who also promote advertising. No, the non-Muslim women here do not find a picture of a woman in a dress beside a refrigerator "insulting." It is just an advertising model, and she got paid for doing it. That money helps her pay the bills.

Heck, the women here run around in bikinis in warm weather. You can't judge the rest of the world based on one cultural view.

I live in Iran and here, both men and women can work as equals too.

Anyway, I believe that such these ads mean that using women beauty = earning more money and this means that women = tools.

If you think such ads insult women what does it say about the target audience of the ad itself? Remember any ad you see has a target audience. The methods any ad uses is a reflection of the audience. I agree it is manipulation but not solely of women. Culture is important as it will effect perception of individuals which will in turn effect which methods of advertisement work and those that do not. A culture that does not value beauty, or at least exploitation of beauty, will not be manipulated as easily as those that do.

I wish I knew what the ad actually is about. I do not know the language. At face-value it looks like a perfume or a refrigerator ad. The bottom looks like it has furniture feet. If I knew I could construct a rough model based on the culture of the target audience, that of the product and how much area the target audience covers.

I believe the language is Vietnamese. Asians are known for using beautiful women in conjunction with ads. Just part of their culture.

I'm afraid this is how things go now; attracting the attention pulling genitalia and lustful desires instead of pulling the actual interest in the product. Those who hate a product could still come to have a look at it if a (half) naked lady is standing right next to it called them. It is unfortunate that women become tools/objects for some people.
