Iron Maiden Tribute Album

I was horrified when i saw the lin-up for their tribute album, hardcore/metalcore bands do no justice to one of the greatest bands to grace our earth Metallica, trivium and Fightstar (suprisingly) are good, some of the others make good songs look very average.

Prowler - Black Tide (average)
Remember Tomorrow - Metallica (not too bad)
Flash of the Blade - Avenged Sevenfold (terrible, quit while you're behind)
2 Minutes to Midnight - Glamour of the Kill (ewww.... makes me cry)
The Trooper - Coheed and Cambria (good music, terrible voice)
Wasted Years - Devil Driver (screaming does this song an injustice, as much a i like these guys)
Run to the Hills - Sign (i almost wanted to kill myself - emo much)
To Tame a Land - Dream Theatre
Caught Somewhere in time - Madina Lake (iron maiden hardcore style makes me cry)
Wrathchild - Gallows (i'd prefer not to disclose my opinion of hardcore)
Fear of the Dark - Fightstar (i enjoyed this song, smooth voice, good cover)
Hallowed be thy Name - Machine head (not bad for machine head, not bad at all)
Iron Maiden - Trivium (good cover, not as traditional as some others)
Running Free - Year long Disaster (average)
Brave New World - Ghostlines (good solo, thats about it)

Overall disappointing, has anyone else heard this album? If you're a maiden fan i suggest you spare yourself the horror of listening to this album.

I have not heard it yet. My friend just ordered the magazine it comes with last week. When he gets it, despite your I'm-sure sage advice, I will probably subject myself to it. It is hard to imagine anyone doing them justice, but I have to hear it for myself anyway. At least it's a good lineup of songs...

Depends what kind of new-age metal you like. Since i'm not a fan of screamo and hardcore it knocks about half of those songs off. Also brave new world is like acoustic/piano, i liked the original
Metallica, trivium, fightstar and machine head are pretty good. If you like avenged sevenfold you might like their cover, if not, like me, you'll want to slap them all for destroying flash of the blade.

I can't stand Avenged Sevenfold. I also just meant that it's hard to imagine another band being able to do Iron Maiden's sound correctly. It doesn't have to be the same, but it should at least have the right feel to it.

Yeh another reason why i dislike the album, theres too much of the other bands in it. I don't have a problem with covers unless they change the singing style, or don't play the solo's right. Also i've noticed the distinctive harris bass sound isn't in a lot of the songs, or is way to loud and hardcore.
