Is Bush really that bad?

That sounds just about right. 3 out of 10 have made a killing in the last 8 years. :D

Your perception of the percentage of Americans who have made a significant amount of money in the last 8 years is way out of line with reality. Only a much smaller percentage of Americans have gotten rich. The gap between rich and poor has also grown tremendously. And as even the ancient Romans knew, you cannot have a huge gap between rich and poor and a republic at the same time.

I blame congress as well and I doubt it will be suitable for me to ever move back to the USA. Oddly enough 3 years before the economy got to the place it is now I told everyone it was going to happen the first big sign was everyone buying SUV's on credit as the price of fuel was going up, the second was $100,000 homes being inflated to $450,000 homes what a joke all I can say is greed, greed, greed. I will take two generations to undo the damage that has been done. Ever seen anyone put a 50 cent coca cola on a credit card? I saw it all the time where I lived, I wonder what the interest on a coke is over the 20 year period it takes to pay off a credit card, I guess that depends if you bankrupt or not...

Not all of it is earmarked for those ridiculous programs.
True, but any percentage is too much. Any percentage given to something that doesn't work to stem the spread of HIV is money taken away from something that does work.

Unfortunately, there are people who prefer money to integrity, and the illusion of security to freedom.

Having money is freedom Bill. If you really look at things from a real world perspective, lack of money makes folks work for whatever wage is offered and enslaves them.

Are you saying one must be poor to have integrity?

No. But in the majority of cases, a wealthy man is either a thief or the son of a thief.

I believe we may be in agreement if we all can define wealthy. With the economy the way it is, making a low six figure income is not wealthy any more. With all this talk of raising taxes on folks making 75,000 a year is crazy.

Wealthy to me means never having to work another day in your life and having money to live on for generations.
