Is capitalism a pig?

The nature of capitalism is self serving is it not.

Conservatives want a ghost government that protects their money and investments. Capitalism is the real ruler of society. Peace through strength and oppression.

How do you expect a true democracy if everything is governed by money and money interest.

What incentives do we have other then survival and gain in capitalism?

Time is money. Money is means. To what ends does money serve.

Capitalism breeds self interest.

The dreamers talk about helping their fellow humans but who has the time and can afford to live a life of service to others? And at what cost?

Will capitalism always stand in the way of selfless work? And a functional government?

Wealth wages war does it not.

At their very basic core, capitalism is bartering and socialism is sharing. Both can be taken to exploitative extremes.

So where does that leave democracy? I honestly think democracy is a prop up pipe dream.

Socialism is where the government decides your position and place in society, right?

Democracy's success depends on how well informed and educated the electorate are, regardless of the economic model in play.

Then education would be a right of the people. I maintain that no one has ever lived a full true democracy. Wealth governs us all.

We are a democracy only slightly so.

Nope. Currently, some relatively socialist countries in Europe have higher upward social mobility than the US. Under socialism, the government does not decide your position and place in society.

“A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small ‘inside’ group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.” ~ Major General Smedley Butler, War Is A Racket

So perhaps, marxist theory is wrong about socialism leading to communism.

Whereas i think communism leads to fascism?

Capitalism has given rise to a new American aristocracy. The rich and uber-rich.

It's inevitable, the class system in most nations, especially mine (Old Ball-ache, the UK), is a product of historic income disparity.

Socialism is an economic system and communism is a bit more with its view of giving government dictatorship over its people. Socialism doesn’t mean that would end up existing but socialism can be a means for a communist state to distribut and control wealth. Likewise socialism can exist under a democracy where funds can be shared but is dictated by the will of the masses. What is opposed to socialism is capitalism, while socialism supports sharing, capitalism supports hoarding which fits your pig analogy.

A life of service does not mean spending every hour of every day away from work and family. To me it means spending time away from drooling in front of the TV etc and amongst other things volunteering. But service can be very tiny such as even a smile.

And what is the proven alternative?
