I worry cuz over the past year I been jumping from one religion o the next not knowing where ill end up. I question and end up with more. some people say you have to stay on one and have faith. How long must I stay on a religion to understand then concepts that don't make any sense? My brother who is Atheists is trying to sway me off the path of religion (or maybe hes the devil tv preacher tried to say that. I guess what im asking is if its ok to jump from theists agnostic and atheists from day to day.:run:

My fiance asks what religion of the day I am all the time. While I feel sticking with one religion would be more beneficial to me, I just can't seem to do it!

Is changing your clothing wrong?

Your hair color?

The style of your furniture?

The way you do things?

Your past times?

Hobbies?

Your job?

Where you live?

Is that not what everyone does? I mean pastures interdict them selves all the time lol. Maybe i should stay on one and keep my own morals. But then again whats the point if i do that.

There is a famous saying by a famous guru that basically says stick to the religion you grew up with. I see the benefits to that, but I kindly reject that advice. Meander where you will, and know all who wander are not lost. There is beauty in enjoying what you observe and experience. And you're a young'un. You may find a religion that appeals to you, you may not. I have a friend who describes his spirituality as a big house. His main room is Methodist Christianity, but he's added lots of rooms to his house from other religions and gleans wisdom from any religion where it can be found.

I don't think there's anything wrong in changing your religion; God knows there's plenty of us who have.

But I do think it is important to know why you're changing it and what it is about the new religion that solves the problems you're having with first religion.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Indecision and sporadic changes can give way to become invaluable enhancements as you realize new horizons that may have not been noticed prior on while engaging in a religion or perspective. Not to mention, you actually have gotten to "taste" the differing perspectives through first hand experiences of which you find can help greatly during conversation or upon reflection.

Never get hard on yourself over things like that.

You could indeed pick and choose whatever you find compatible with your intellect/beliefs/desires/etc. There are tenets and teachings from various religions that hold truth or wisdom or that can appeal to a person without converting to that religion. Appreciating aspects of a religion doesn't mean you have to embrace the entire thing. You can agree with Buddhism's moral code, admire Jesus's parables, and learn what noted leaders of any religion have taught, all without offending your sense of logic....maybe...

not at all.

In fact I would say that God would want you to keep searching. You'll know it when you find him and if you are in doubt, then you probably havnt.

do i believe in unicorns? Ah, no.

as for celebrating b'days we dont do it because the b'day celebration was originally a pagan religious ceremony and its the reason why the early christians and Jews did not celebrate birthdays. JW's strive to follow the earliest church model and because they obviously did not do it, we dont do it.

as for christmas....Jesus never instituted the celebrating of his birthday... he wanted his followers to commemorate his death. So we commemorate Jesus death as instructed in the gospel. Besides that, there is the fact that Jesus wasnt born on Dec 25th and that it is the amalgamation of pagan celebrations into christianity... so there is also that aspect to it as well.

Hey but this thread wasnt about me, it was about you :D

Reason, and reason again
I'm only bothered by people who change faiths quicker than socks when they become condescending about their recent discovery or when they make a display of it to uninterested parties.

There was a period in my life where I would go by a different word each few months. Now I just sorta' refuse to label myself.

There's nothing wrong with a person changing their position about something.

If, however, you find yourself changing rather frequently, you might do well to examine your process for determining what is true from what is false. You may be over-committing to a particular position without enough justification, or relying too heavily on quick-changing emotions rather than reason.

Atheists think religion = lack of freedom.
Religion is lack of freedom if we follow it blindly. The alternative is to understand it.
To say that "atheists think religion = lack of freedom" is an untrue statement. Some atheists do perhaps, but you've used a broad label incorrectly.

Oops I was writing on another topic that i made so that unicorn question was more suited for that thread. Many people blindly run into things what proof do have that unicorns exists. Just cuz you have no proof dose not mean there not there there. Though the thought seem so far fetched this is why i asked you that. Anyways that a different topic.

I disagree with you earlier comment saying that i have not found him yet due to being in the wrong place. I think that if you are a good person you need religion not to find him. In a religious point of view i do think that one will be guided i'm just frustrated and ****** that this loving god hates me lol.

BTW many thanks for clearing that up
