Is David related to Jesus?

yes or no...

and if yes, HOW? O_O
As far as I know... yes.

God called Joseph to "take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit", so that Jesus, "who is called Christ", should be born of Joseph's spouse into the messianic lineage of David.

Mt 1:20; cf. 1:16; Rom 1:1; 2 Tim 2:8; Rev 22:16.

... as far as i know, Joseph wasnt the one who impregnated Mary

so how could he be related?

Would he need to be to be from the "house of David"?
*shrug* once a bible teacher told me that Jesus was in David's bloodline... i thought she was full of it... but i'm just reiterrating the question here.

It's a good question.

I'm sure that "bloodline" can be used to refer to family, whether "blood" kin or not.

I've always thought it possible that Joseph's genetics were used in the process anywho...but that's just me.:frog:

yeah, but then Jesus is not of David's bloodline.... that's what i meant
Ok... cool.

Divinity trumps a bloodline in my book.... but I'm not real big on Biblical prophesy... I guess the bloodline is important to some people.

well i just dont think it's right to teach people something that inaccurate. I was confused when she said that, and I questioned her on it... she didnt have an answer either.

I agree.... I would never teach such a thing either. Fantastic thread.

That's a really good question, I always thought He was, but I learned later it was by marriage.

it's your dogma, not mine :)

you tell me why it's important that Jesus comes from the house of David... isn't a prophecy?

There is no Christian dogma that says Mary has to be blood related to David. Jesus is an heir to the throne of David through Joseph.
