Is desire healthy?

Everyone desires something, whether it be peace in the Middle East or a piece of that really good choclate cake. But can desire drive people too far? Is that why we have so many problems in our world at present?
Conflicting desires over power and money at the top, to even smaller things like stealing a brothers jacket because you desire it.
What do you think?

What makes desire healthy or not? It has nothing to do with health, its whatever is behind the desire. If you steal someones jacket because you want it, I can see how this affects anyones health, only setting themselves up for consiquences due to action, not desire.

My wife keeps nagging at me - because I tend to be an 'all or nothing' type of person. Ican hear her dulcet tones.......


"Moderation in all things, and in all things moderation"

Which is actually true, how ever hard that is for me to practice. It is why I will never gamble, smoke or drink alcohol - because if I did any of the above (as I know to my cost) I would go 'all out' and do whatever it is to eccess.

She loves to make my life empty.......
