Is God just the Sun

Is God just the Sun, the sun we see to Sunrise to Sunset, i mean "In the Beginning God created the Heaven and Earth" can this litterly mean "The Sun Lights up the Heaven(sky) and Grows the earth(vegatation).

The sun is our saviour our god, without it we would not exist, it gives us our warmth, food, guides us with its light, gives our planet stability.

Ask yourself, What more important "God or "The Sun"

"I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." (John 9:5)

Christian cross = Sun Symbol
The two heavy lines form the cross of the Zodiac on which the sun dies. The Christian cross represents the length of days at each cardinal point: The short leg represents the winter solstice, the long leg the summer solstice and the two equal legs represent the spring and fall solstices. Thus, the sun dies on the cross.

Well, the sun was seen in many religions as God.
But as importantness, we would die witout air just as hard. Water, ditto.. Even the moon..

My question to you, is this thread about
God = the sun
or
the Sun = God

In that case, wich part of the sun is God?
the hydrogen? the helium? the oxygen? Hé, we need oxygen..

What about the fact that we asume there are more solarsystems and likelly more suns?
Or the fact that the suns is fading and will eventually lose it's energy.

Ancient People had no knowledge on what the sun was made from,

Right, so what you mean is that there is no God, but people in the past thought the Sun was one...

Does not work that way, They didnt thought the sun was god, they Personified the Sun. When Ancient begin to aknowledge how to track events like Summer/Winter Soltices, this is extremely Essential for ancient farmers. When a Soltice Accures, they created little Festivals to celabrate Coming of Spring, or Time of Renewal.

These festival evolved into Sun Worship, were they put a Man in the place of the Sun, Sun Worship turned into cults, this "Sun'man" evolved and evolved to become even more sophisticated and evantually GOD

LOL, I would love to debate in this thread with you, but I can't find anything to debate :D
I don't think that the Sun was the only thing that let to nowadays god (or at least a concept of it), but I also asume that the sun could have played a great part in it.

Your inability / unwillingness to think in terms of metaphor, symbol, poetry, and so forth is truly staggering. Are you seriously proposing that Jesus said, in effect, "I'm the sun"? It's a common observation that the ancient symbol for Horus, the Roman sun god, was a cross. There's serious scholarly debate over whether that's what the Romans had in mind when they devised the cross as a method of execution. But in any case, whatever symbolism the cross once may have had, it gained a whole new set of meanings and symbolism when the church got hold of it. Its meaning as a sun symbol is, these days (indeed, within a couple hundred years of Jesus' death) is irrelevant.

Before when the Cross was a symbol for Christianty A Fish was the symbol, A symbol when the Age of Pisces begins (about 1 AD)

The Sun itself doesn't make life or there would life on Venus, Mercury, and Mars. Not to mention Jupiter's and the other gas giants' moons. There were some cultures that worshiped the sun. I choose to worship The Son instead ;).
And you're right, if the sun died, so would we.

You've been watching Zeitgeist, right?

Awesome movie. You should watch it if you haven't because the first part depicts exactly what you're talking/asking about now.

I hate Zeitgeist, they have too many mistakes, When Zietgiest says the horus was the sun god of Egypt, that was a Lie, and Set has nothing to do with the underworld.

The Sun god of egypt is "Ra" and the Enemy of Ra is "Apep".

Errmm... You what now?
Is God just the Sun?

If you have watched Zeitgeist, then you must realise it is bull. Most of the stuff in the first section is made up and based off a book.

If you are an atheist see religion as old man's politics. When religion dies only politics is left. See the bible and such as poetic morals expressed to satisfy minds several thousand years ago.

All the information here was not plagerized from Zeitgiest, Although i can see Jesus portrayed easily as a Sun God even moses, but not yahwah or Elyhim
