Is Hell exothermic or endothermic?

There is no "Hell" IMO. To say it is exothermic or endothermic would be giving it phyiscal characteristics, and since it does not exist (to me), it can be neither. Hell is a state of mind, a distance from God that causes a person anguish and grief. It applies to this life, not the afterlife.

Or were you referring to the actual Hell? Photographs of Hell :goodjob:

Or am I missing some deeper meaning to the question? (Wouldn't be the first time.)

This is more a "fun" question than a deeply philosophical one. I also do not believe in Hell... but if it DID exist, and if it DID somehow submit to the laws of nature, would it be exothermic or endothermic?

Hey... I know this question from somewhere... ;)

here is what the Physics and Astronomy club has to say about it:

Personally of all the christian concepts of the univerce I find Hell to be the funniest... 8)

As for what Hell would be like... ever seen the tundra in the early spring? Massive clouds of mosquitos so nasty they can actually kill a man...
now thats a Hell :eek:mg:

My favorite has always been the cold hells....

The Hell of the Blood Red Lotus is so cold that the skin of your back splits open, hence the name........

Being from the desert and accustomed to heat, I also think the worse form of torture would be extreme cold.

In Zoroastrianism hell is icey. There is a similar picture of hell in Islam and Dante.

ever get the cold shoulder yet ure warm?

No, but I tend to get chilled when I'm tired or haven't eaten for five + hours (minor hypoglycemia). I live in a state where right now it is about 100, and yet I tend to be okay in jackets and long sleeves... I read outside on the padio in a sweatshirt... course it is still morning and I was in the shade, but still...

I swear I'm exothermic :p

heh... Runt I'm just about the opposite...
I spent all winter with nothing but a sweatshirt... the only time I realy got cold was the couple of weeks where we had wind chills of -45 to -50... otherwise I was fine without a winter jacket....
35 was t-shirt and shorts weather

isn't acclimation a wonderful thing

What if hell switched randomly from hot to cold with no rhyme or reason? (much like the weather here in NH ) would that be more hellish? (by that reasoning am I curently living in hell?) 8)

I know this post is missing the overall point of the topic, but what the hell.

If hell exists is it a physical place somewhere in the universe or is it in the spiritual reams? Think about this....

Heat is created by the movement of particles. Physical particles. Thus, for hell to be hot it would need to be in the physical world. However, due to the ever-expanding universe, eventually, given enough time, the particles that constitute hell will be torn apart due to gravity. This would make the possibility of evil people suffering in hell for eternity impossible.

Also, since we have acertained that hell is indead a physical place, then are the actual bodies of all the evil people physically present in this place? How else, then, would they be able to suffer (ie. if they are spiritual souls)?

thats all im just really bored 8)

newbie: there may not be real fire or heat in hell but if there is, just like the Lord's creation of time, a fire or heat could be created without a physical or energetic means. hell is the absence of love and even evil angels thirst for love, not just us. the rich man who fed table scraps to a handicapped man outside his gate complained of being thirsty in hell, that was just symbolic of thirst for love. just like your soul, there are other spiritual beings and realms where they preside. we are all on a journey and i pray u will join me sometime later. i enjoy your comments and questions. i am curious too.
